Appearing on iPlayer on 1st November
https://www.bbc.co.uk/mediacentre/2023/doctor-who-the-whoniverse-tales-of-the-tardis/
With apologies to KT Tunstall
'And you know there's no need to hide away
You know I tell the truth
We are just the same
And I can feel everything you do
Hear everything you say
Even when you're miles away
'Cause I am me, the whoniverse & u
Oh, I am the whoniverse & u'

All the surviving episodes of the original Dr Who, starting in 1963, have been added to iplayer. Unfortunately, it doesn't include the first-ever story, 'An unearthly child', which must be lost, but it starts with the second story, in which the Daleks are introduced. I've just watched the first episode ( in the early days, each adventure was spread over a number of episodes, usually four). I definitely watched it back in 1963, but I didn't remember anything of the first episode.

An Unearthly Child is definitely not amongst the lost episodes. It is one of my all time favourite episodes of any programme. It was on Britbox when the classic Whos were there. I can't imagine that it isn't on the new area. Will have a poke around.
ETA An explanation of sorts https://thedoctorwhocompanion.com/2023/10/19/doctor-who-an-unearthly-child-wont-be-on-bbc-iplayer-heres-why-and-how-you-can-still-watch-it/

ITV X does start with An Unearthly Child (and doesn't have any adverts).

Thanks for the info.

Earlier, I searched through all the first-Doctor episodes, looking for a story I remember about him and his companions landing at the siege of Troy, and meeting Agamemnon, Achilles etc., and advising them to get into the city by means of a glider, pooh-poohing the wooden horse plan as impractical. I can't find it. I hope I've just overlooked it, and it hasn't gone missing.

Details of missing episodes below. On Britbox a number of the episodes that are missing were replaced by rather good animations - usually where most of the serial still existed. Not looked at what the BBC's Whoniverse is doing with those.
