Leans a bit too much to you either know it or you don't from my pov. Prefer some questions where you can work out an answer.

There were two where I successfully worked out the answer from the question

I would argue the toss with several of their answers.
For example, how many godfathers can you have? Under CofE rules, it's two if you are a boy.

I would be interested to know which ones? I think anyone from here that is going to do the quiz will.have answered by now.

The godfather one. The Jesus one. The date one, possibly. There was also another "name ending in S" one which you could argue.

Sorry, my mistake. I only skimmed your question and thought you were referring to the apostrophe one.
The one about Cambridge I worked out from "ponte" (meaning bridge) at the end of the name.
I figured out the long words one by elimination. It looked like a numerical thing, which eliminated swamps and if it had been seven, it wouldn't have had all the unaccounted for syllables in the middle.
Also, the tortoise one, I had no clue, so went for the obvious answer.
You could also probably get the OS map one by elimination, but I knew it anyway.
