That can't be emphasised too much. When Sunk made the pledge, he pretty much already knew that he was going to meet it.

Classic politician's trick. He also promised to "grow the economy", but all governments, of whatever political colour, do that, unless they are extremely incompetent or have to deal with very unusual circumstances.

While I think there are more complexities to do with growth than inflation from govt, pretty much. In the election, of course, Labour will be blowing exactly the same smoke.
