Sci-fi is also filled with a lot of fairly crap predictions, where are our jet packs, but this one is pretty accurate.

Well - sort-of. It has also been argued that Douglas Adams "invented" the internet with 'The Hitch-hiker's Guide to the Galaxy', both the book and the fictional electronic thiingy within it, a sort of galactic Tripadvisor, and the same claim has even been made for Teilhard De Chardin's "Noosphere", though that is a bit of a stretch.
