Title: Urgent prayers for my friend Becky Laird
Post by: Alan Burns on August 06, 2015, 11:29:43 PM
Becky, a devout Christian, wife of Andrew and mother to five children (aged 3 to 17) has just had two emergency operations to remove a brain tumor.  As many as possible are being called upon to pray for Becky and her lovely family in this crisis.

Many thanks,
Alan

LORD and Loving heavenly Father,

We pray for Becky, her husband and Children.
It is your will to heal and save. We pray that Becky will pull through this operation that you will guide the hands of her surgeon and administer your healing power. That her husband and children may be encouraged and strengthened to have faith and trust in you and be comforted by the truth of your words and who you are. May peace be with them that passeth understanding and may you restore Becky to full health.
To your Glory and in the name of Jesus your son our Lord, we ask all these things..Amen.

(sorry I can't include the picture)

Prayer warriors!  I thought a picture of my beautiful wife would help in the fight we have ahead. Please forward to all and ask them to continue in prayer for the full recovery of my Angel Rebecca. Rebecca has undergone a 3rd major surgery and is battling along the road of recovery.

Hi Alan,

I tell him I lost my little sister with a brain hemorrhage in 1988 she was 13 years old. I wish I knew then what I know now.
You need to tell him not to give up and we do not need to see her for her to receive the healing from the LORD God. Tell HIM just to believe no matter what negative things he may be told.

That could be the pain, ((Alan & Andrew))

Lord and Loving heavenly Father,

We pray for Beckys family and friends who are probably so worried about her they are battling between what the doctors are telling them and the truth of your words and the promises you have made. We pray for faith and for a renewal of trust that they might stop listening to the doctors prognosis and believe all  is and  will be well.
We pray for healing in Beckys brain and that she will recover from her stroke completely
and for all others with family members ill in need of your loving healing care and ask it  to your Glory and in the Name of Jesus Christ your son our Lord. Amen!

My wife and I visited Becky today in the intensive care unit of Hull Royal Infirmary.  She still has not regained consciousness since the operations, but is being well looked after.  When I read psalm 91 to her, my wife noticed that her heart rate dropped from 135 to 128 while I was reading.  Staff informed us that her heart rate of 135 was a bit too high.  Please keep up the prayers.

thanks

Latest news from the hospital is that Becky now has a chest infection, and doctors do not think she will ever regain consciousness.

It looks bleak, but she is still alive, and many people are praying for her.

Lord, we put all our hope and trust in you.

Just received from Andrew:

Dear Friends,

It is with much sadness and a heavy heart that  I write to you. Today the consultants looking after Rebecca told me in their opinion it’s highly unlikely that Becky will ever wake up due to the damage caused to her brain. In addition to that news,  they also informed me that Becky has picked up a chest infection. They are however, going to continue to give Becky the best care they can. Their advice to me was that I should bring the children to the hospital to see their mummy. Words cannot describe how i am feeling, I’m  just clinging to Jesus and begging him to perform a miracle and save Becky’s life.

Let us all double the prayer efforts and not lose hope. Miracles do happen!

LORD and Loving heavenly Father,

We pray for Alan, Andrew and all caring for Becky.
Yea though they walk through the valley of the shadow of death they shall fear no evil.
It is always your will to heal. Cast out fear and let them only heed your word. Help them to be strong and let your angels watch over them and let the truth of Christ comfort them and bring them healing.
Lord, Becky shall not die but live. Give them the hope and the faith to believe and receive. In Jesus Name and all like them in their position.
Amen.

Latest news from Andrew:

Dear Friends,

Thank you for your continued prayers. Yesterday with the 3 older children, Fr Chad from Ampleforth,  Fr Keogh and other family and friends  we prayed with Becky. For the first time we all felt that Becky was aware of our presence. During our time with Becky she opened an eye and half opened the other eye, it was a wonderful thing to witness and it filled us all with such hope.

We must all continue to be strong and Trust in the Lord. I know God works all things for good. His ways are not our ways and He is still the God of miracles.

Becky’s temperature is down and God willing her chest infection will clear.

In Christ

Dear Friends,

Thank you for your continued prayers and support. Unfortunately Becky has shown no further signs of improvement and is still in an unconscious state. She is breathing on her own and her chest infection has cleared, however the consultants opinion is still the same. The medical team at Hull are continuing to give Becky the best nursing care they can.

Prayer and Trust in The Lord is our hope and this is what we must continue to do. I have taken the step of saying to Our Lord  “ Your will be done”  knowing and trusting that whatever happens He loves us and wants the best for us all.

Another email received from Andrew today:

Dear Friends,

Thank you so much for your prayers love and support during these incredibly difficult days. I am praying for you as you pray for Becky and our family. Thank you.

I have had various updates from the doctors, all of which do not offer much hope. Brain injuries of the type that Becky has suffered are impossible to predict with certainty but as far as the doctors are concerned, they consider it very unlikely that Becky will wake up, but they don’t know Becky like I do and they are not taking into account all the thousands of prayers being offered up for her throughout the world. We will, however, need a miracle or something very close to  bring Becky back.

I have decided to ask the intercession of two great saints, St Pio (Padre Pio) and Saint John Paul II. Saint John Paul II had a great devotion to Padre Pio and canonised him on 16 June 2002, only 34 years after his death.

I am hoping to obtain the loan of one of his mittens worn by him during his life which have through prayer brought about many healings.

Here are just a few of them

http://www.belfasttelegraph.co.uk/life/features/padre-pio-all-they-needed-was-a-miracle-29572740.html

http://www.belfasttelegraph.co.uk/life/padre-pio-files-my-pregnant-wife-was-clinically-brain-dead-then-we-brought-in-padre-pios-glove-28514667.html

The latter link was a case really quite similar to Becky and completely miraculous.

We will continue to pray for Becky using this novena as well as lots of other prayers. Please pray in any way you prefer but you are warmly invited to join us for this 9 day cycle of prayer  starting on 4 September 2015 using the novena below which will continue until Becky is healed. Padre Pio’s feast day is 23 September and is the day before the feast of Our Lady of Walsingham. Last Saturday, Mass was offered up for Becky at the original site of the shrine to Our Lady of Walsingham founded around 1053 nearly 1000 years ago when over 1000 people gathered at the Youth 2000 festival.

Thank you again

God bless

Andrew

Efficacious Novena To The Sacred Heart Of Jesus
(This novena prayer was recited every day by Padre Pio for all those who asked his prayers)

I. O my Jesus, You have said, ‘Truly I say to you, ask and it will be given you, seek and you will find, knock and it will be opened to you.’ Behold, I knock, I seek and ask for the grace of…

Our Father… Hail Mary… Glory be to the Father…
Sacred Heart of Jesus, I place all my trust in you.

II. O my Jesus, You have said, ‘Truly I say to you, if you ask anything of the Father in my name, He will give it to you.’ Behold, in Your name, I ask the Father for the grace of…

Our Father… Hail Mary… Glory be to the Father…
Sacred Heart of Jesus, I place all my trust in you.

III. O my Jesus, You have said, ‘Truly I say to you, heaven and earth will pass away but my words will not pass away.’ Encouraged by Your infallible words, I now ask for the grace of…

Our Father… Hail Mary… Glory be to the Father…
Sacred Heart of Jesus, I place all my trust in you.

O Sacred Heart of Jesus, for whom it is impossible not to have compassion on the afflicted, have pity on us poor sinners and grant us the grace which we ask of You, through the Sorrowful and Immaculate heart of Mary, Your tender mother and ours.

Hail, Holy Queen… St. Joseph, foster father of Jesus, pray for us

Saint John Paul II, pray for us

St Pio, pray for us!

Andrew,

Jesus has already done everything necessary for Becky to be healed.
My prayer is that God will reveal the hope and truth of his word to all at this time.
That you will know that Becky can be completely healed.
She has opened her eyes just wait on the LORD God and trust him.

My faith and prayer are in God and with you and Becky and her family at this time.

Gods words;- I will restore health unto thee and heal they of thy wounds.

For there is nothing impossible for God.

LORD and loving heavenly Father, Please give them a sign so the doctors and family will see Becky is getting well and increase their faith. In Jesus Name, Amen

 Latest email from Andrew:

Dear Friends,

I am just writing to thank you for all your prayers, love and support and to give you an update. I am so grateful.

Becky has been through some difficult times since I last wrote but has been moved to York hospital Ward 34 which is a great help for visiting. She is currently receiving very strong antibiotics for a chest infection which at times has been a very serious threat, but thank God this appears to be receding. Becky has opened her eyes but her pupils are not responding and the medical team looking after her say it’s a reflex. We are therefore still in the same place as when I last wrote to you. We are now in the last 9 days before Padre Pio’s feast day on 23 September so if you are able to join us in the novena, I would be so grateful. We need a miracle to bring Becky back.

Padre Pio, pray for us! Saint John Paul II, pray for us!

Thank you again

Yours in Christ

Andrew

This is the latest news from Andrew:
Dear Friends,

I am writing to you yet again to thank you for all your prayers, support and love. We are so grateful to everyone during these incredibly difficult times.

Since writing last time, Becky has been through some very bad patches but is much better now. She has recovered from her chest infection and is now off antibiotics which is very positive. She has also started to open her eyes and blink and really seems much more present and aware. She is appearing to respond to voices and the swelling has reduced and her pupils are now responding to light. All of this seemed virtually impossible when I last wrote. On top of this, the doctors have reduced the oxygen levels to the tracheotomy to quite a low level and her statistics are stable. They are going to try to take Becky off oxygen during the week and have already tried once.  All in all this is such good news, although there is still a very long way to go.

We are continuing to pray for Becky’s complete recovery to full health and warmly invite you to join us. We are still using the Novena to the Sacred Heart asking the intercession of Padre Pio and also St John Paul II as well as many other saints.

Thank you again

God bless you

Andrew

My wife and I visited Becky in York and were pleased to see her opening her eyes.  We continue to pray for her full recovery.  We discovered that the photograph Andrew sent (see link on earlier posting) was taken in July, just days before she went into hospital.  The photograph is now by her bedside, together with photos of her five lovely children.  She is a beautiful person, with an inner beauty that has inspired the faith of many people including myself and her husband Andrew.  We hope and pray that she will live to inspire many more people in the future.  Please continue to pray for her full recovery.

Answers the prayers. It may be difficult for you to understand but God is taking care of Becky not any single person or organisations prayer.

Becky in my thoughts alot and when talking with God I have prayed about you too, Alan. You need to realise God is not a respector of persons he responds to faith and truth.

It is his faithfulness, love and care we have to thank.  :) As Becky grows stronger and improves I am sure you will also see the truth of Gods goodness and promises in action. Thank you for letting us know.

My wife and I and our daughter visited Becky today in York.  We met up with her husband Andrew and her five children by her bedside, and we all said prayers for her.  Becky opened her mouth when asked so that my daughter could run a swab round her teeth.  She kept her eyes closed while we were there.  We left the room to allow nurses to attend to her, and the nurses reported that Becky was moving her foot in time to music that was playing, and she then opened her eyes when asked.  Earlier the nurses said she was trying to move her mouth to the words of a song that was playing.  This is great progress, and we continue to pray for her full recovery.

Latest news from Andrew:

Dear Friends,

Thank you for all your prayers, love and support - the family and I could not have come this far without it.

Becky has recently shown some significant signs of recovery including responding to requests to open her mouth, put out her tongue(!), blink and squeeze a holding. She has also appeared to try to talk in response to conversation and appears frustrated when she can't do this. These signs have been witnessed and relayed to me by her consultant who having given a very bleak prognosis has now said that he thinks that Becky is waking up. Praise God this is amazing news!!

She still need prayers for DVT and that her chest remains clear of infection. There are many mountains left to climb but this is a huge milestone in her recovery journey.

The next stage is to try to move her to James Cook University Hospital where there is a specialist neuro rehab unit and Becky has many friends who work there. This was unthinkable a few weeks ago and I really thank you for all your prayers which have made this possible.

We are also looking at ways in which visitors can help to support Becky's recovery and we will be in touch about this soon.

Thank you again so much for everything.

God bless

Andrew

Latest update from Andrew:

Dear Friends,

Thank you for your continued prayers, love and support. This last week I've been feeling that this journey is bringing us all closer to God and each other. Thank you for sharing and supporting us through it.

This week Becky has had an MRI scan and a full assessment by the medical team in York. The scan revealed that the remnant of the tumour hasn't changed. This is amazing news, praise Jesus! However, it also confirmed that there is brain damage but in the consultant's opinion he can't predict what recovery can be made, if any. We must continue to pray for a full recovery. The physio team continue to work with Becky each day and there is an occupational therapist and SMART Assessor working with her. SMART stands for Sensory Modality Assessment and Rehabilitation Technique. It is an assessment and treatment tool designed to asses responses provoking vision, hearing, touch, taste and smell.

The next stage in Becky's recovery will be a move to a neuro rehabilitation ward, which York doesn't have. Hopefully, James Cook hospital in Middlesbrough will accept Becky however, they may not because she still has a tracheotomy. Newcastle would be the next option as they will accept patients with a tracheotomy.

Last night Becky was the most aware and most distressed I've seen her, maybe you can't have one without the other. Becky definitely knew I was there and communicated with me by blinking her eyes in response to my questions and trying to talk. She seemed to be almost screaming inside but unable to get the sound out. She was in pain and became distressed and anxious so the nurses gave her pain relief to calm her.

On a lighter note, Becky's good friend Rachel visited after me and she said Becky had a big smile for her with both eyes wide open and that she was calm and peaceful when she left.

latest update from Andrew:

Dear Friends,

Thank you for your continued Prayers, love and support at this difficult time, your messages of support have brought our whole family much comfort.

This last week has been a tough one because the ward has been closed to visitors due to a bug and Becky picked up pneumonia for a 3rd time. Becky's muscles have gone into spasm, which the medical team tell me is called spasticity and is common for patients who are unable to move themselves. They are treating both illness's and hope to get on top of them this coming week. The neuro and respiratory physio along with the wonderful nurses all continue to treat Becky and are doing the very best they can.

The most difficult news for me was from James Cook hospital in Middlesbrough to where we hoped Becky would be referred but whose specialist neuro department turned us down. Consequently, referrals have been made to both Leeds and Newcastle hospitals. Please pray that one of these hospitals will accept Becky as they both have specialist neuro departments and this is where she will receive the most appropriate care for the next part of her recovery. We should hear something by the end of the month.

My Angel Rebecca is fighting to come back to us and I'm positive your prayers are helping her along her journey. My love for her grows daily as does the pain of missing her beautiful presence in our home. We talk about her everyday and just long for the day when we can all be together again.

The ward will hopefully be reopened this week, however please check before visiting on 01904 726564 and contact me regarding what time and which day you hope to visit on 07973131508 or email al@roseberrygroup.co.uk

God Bless and thank you again.

The torture that family is experiencing beggars belief. That poor lady seems to take one step forward and ten back! I hope for all their sakes her suffering is ended, one way or the other, very soon. :(

LORD, and Loving Heavenly Father,

There are no barriers and nothing you cannot do for Becky to heal and aid her recovery.
We lift Becky before you and ask that in the name of Jesus you cast out pneumonia and spasticity. Becky is fighting but we know you have already won the battle for her through our Lord Jesus.
At present they can find no hospital to accept Becky to carry on her physical treatment and ask you will open the closed door best for Becky. So she will be where you want her to go. Above everything Father we know her healing will be completed by you. That no matter what happens here your promises are sure and Becky will be completely healed and restored. We pray for peace of mind and renewed faith and hope for her family and those praying for her. That your word will be the stone of those prayers and the way through for Becky. We rely solely on your capabilities as our physician and healer and pray for all in need of such healing and help. You alone do the impossible, Father. Grant healing to all who are praying for it. Grant faith and trust to those praying. And guide the minds, hearts hands of all the doctors and surgeons in this case for Becky and those praying and posting for her recovery needing healing. In Jesus Name we ask it and we thank you Father. Amen.

Andrew's latest update:

Dear Friends,

Thank you for your continued prayers, love and support and to all who are able to visit Becky, it is much appreciated. Your love for our family is overwhelming. Our loss is colossal as you can imagine but with your support I know we can make it through this incredibly difficult time.

Today is an important day for us all as Newcastle hospital are sending a specialist consultant to asses Becky at 14:00. Walkergate Park has a neuro rehabilitation unit, unlike York and they accept patients in Becky's condition ( Tracheotomy and Level 1 awareness ). However, with beds in short supply they need to see potential to help Becky in order for the referral to proceed.

Many who have visited Becky recently feel as I do that Becky seems to have plateaued neurologically. What we are left wondering is, if being on a respiratory ward is the best place for her now. We just want Becky to be given the best environment for maximising her rehab potential.

So far she has amazed us with what she has battled through. Like many, I believe the care has been excellent at York, but every time I visit now, the more I feel she needs a specialist neuro team caring for her. Her consultant at York agrees and he wants Newcastle to accept Becky as much as I do.

Please join me in prayer asking our Lord Jesus Christ to intervene and open the hearts of the consultants from Newcastle to see hope in Becky's condition and potential for them to aid her recovery.

In Jesus name Amen!

God Bless
Andrew

Another update from Andrew:

Dear Friends,

Just got home after an incredibly frustrating day. The team from Newcastle didn't arrive for the assessment . All the team in York were there waiting: Physio's, Occupational therapists, nurses family and friends. The only explanation we received after waiting around all afternoon was that the team from Newcastle have the assessment planned for next Wednesday. There's NHS efficiency for you!!!

I plan to be on the phone first thing in the morning demanding that the assessment be rescheduled before next Wednesday.

On a positive note however, I had a wonderful moment with Becky when kissing her goodbye. She was moving her lips kissing me back. I left her at peace with Fr Pat praying the rosary looking much more comfortable than when we arrived.

God Bless

Some good news from Andrew:

Dear Friends,

Thank you for your continued prayers, love and support. We must continue to Trust in God and believe that good will come from this tragic situation. After last weeks disappointment of Newcastle not showing and Becky's chest not being given the all clear, I have some wonderful news to report. Over the weekend and especially last night Becky has been verbally communicating with me. She has said my name and the children's names and even said "I Love You " Yvonne, one of the nurses witnessed it and both her and I were in tears.

I emailed Andrew Heald, Becky's consultant to report this and below is his reply:-

Dear Andrew,

Your observation has been confirmed by the physiotherapists. I have just been with them on the ward to assess Becky following my return from annual leave.

During the assessment today, Katy and Emma asked Becky certain questions and gained what looked like words mouthed back. They temporarily capped the tracheostomy which enabled Becky to clearly AUDIBLY speak her name in response to a question, followed by her stating in a constructed sentence that her second name was Laird. She also named her children and yourself before becoming totally exhausted. This is very encouraging. It also demonstrates the limitations of her available energy allowing for only very short periods of activity at this stage.

It is still too early to use a speaking tube due to the amount of secretions but it remains our intention to add this to the tracheostomy to enable audible speech as soon as it is safe to do so. The sooner the tracheostomy can be safely removed the better for everyone.

Becky now has less spasticity. The baclofen is helping. The gabapentin will continue to increase. Too much baclofen will exhaust her.

I am sorry the visit from Walkergate was not as anticipated. We were informed it would be last Wednesday - but it never happened. I am informed it is now this Wednesday 18th Nov.

Hence a bad experience last week but some substantial further improvement to be thankful for.

Regards
Andrew

Dear Lord of mercy and Love, we praise and thank you for this healing journey for us all. May you continue to shine your light on all that know and love Rebecca, in Jesus name, Amen!

God Bless and thank you again.

In Christ
Andrew

I met Andrew briefly on Sunday.  He said Becky will soon be transferred to a specialist neurological department in Newcastle.  She can still communicate but the effort quickly tires her out, and the tracheostomy in her throat makes it very difficult.  Andrew was on his way to Sunderland taking the children to see "The Lion King" for a well deserved treat.

Please pray that the specialist treatment she receives will be fruitful and that she will soon be able to breathe without the tracheostomy.

Latest news from Andrew:

Dear Friends,

Thank you for your continued prayers, love and support. We will hopefully receive news from Newcastle next week as finally, their team have all the information they require to make their decision.

It's been an anxious wait for me. My only peace comes from keeping my eyes focused on Jesus and Trusting in the Lord. I know that He is in complete control of every little detail in our lives and suffering is turned on it's head when we focus on his divine plan. Becky is with him helping him carry the heavy weight of the cross and she is strong enough to carry that burden. That's why he chose her to do it. I picture her soul, so radiant and becoming more beautiful by the day. I know she is ready for whatever Our Lord decides.

In her moments of awareness, Becky is continuing in her battle to try and communicate.

I received an email today from her consultant, Andrew Heald at York, with challenging news:

Andrew

I have just assessed Becky with Dr Carmichael prior to the weekend.

Becky might again be starting with another infection this time around the tracheostomy tube. We have started antibiotics.

Due to have some Botulinium Toxin injections to both arms and legs to reduce stiffness next week once the infection is overcome. This was scheduled for today but deferred due to infection.

As yet, no reply from Walkergate. Hopefully a decision next week

When is best time to catch up with you on the ward next week? We will need to decide about what next, pending upon the Newcastle decision

Regards
Andrew

Please keep up the prayers as we battle through this difficult period.

God Bless
In Christ

An update from Andrew:

Thank you for your continued prayers, love and Support. It's been an anxious wait for an update from Newcastle this week but the great news is Becky is over the worst of the chest infection and has shown more signs of improvement. She is looking the most peaceful I've seen her. Your prayers are working!!!

I thought I'd share a reflection I received from my friend this week that gave me great comfort:-

Saint Teresa Benedicta of the Cross [Edith Stein] (1891-1942), Carmelite, martyr, co-patron of Europe
Das Weihnachtsgeheimnis, 1/31/1931

“It is not enough to say to me: ‘Lord, Lord’ … but you must do the will of my Father”

“Thy will be done.” In all its fullness, this act of abandonment must be the rule of Christian life. It must rule over the day, from morning to night, over the course of the year, over all of life. This must be the Christian’s only concern; all the others are taken care of by the Lord, but this one remains ours until our last day. That is an objective fact. We are not definitively assured of always remaining on the Lord’s path… During our spiritual childhood, when we have just begun to let ourselves be led by God, we feel his strong and firm hand guiding us. We see in an obvious way what we must do and what we must not do. But it will not always be like that. The person who belongs to Christ must live Christ’s whole life. That person must ripen to the point of attaining Christ’s adult age, and one day must start out on the way of the cross… Thus united with Christ, the Christian will persevere even in the dark night… That is why, even and precisely in the midst of the darkest night, “thy will be done.”

God Bless You
In Christ

Latest update from Andrew:

Dear Friends,

Thank you for your continued prayers, love and support. Since the last update, Becky has suffered another bout of pneumonia from which she has now recovered, however neurologically she hasn't progressed any further. The rehabilitation unit in Newcastle have yet to reach a decision as to whether they will accept Becky or not. Her consultant at York has been preparing me for a NO and thinks, as with James Cook hospital in Middlesbrough, their decision will be based on the prognosis and their certainty of the cancer returning. It's all very disheartening! I continue to trust God knowing his ways are not our ways and he has our family in the palm of His hands.

Just received from Andrew:

Dear Friends,

Wishing you a Happy and peaceful 2016. I am writing with an urgent request for additional prayer over the next 24 hours. I've today been informed that Becky will have an MRI scan tomorrow, the outcome of which will determine whether Newcastle will accept Becky for neuro rehabilitation or not. If the scan reveals no change it is likely they will accept Becky but if the cancer has grown it is most likely they will turn us away. In the event of the result being the latter, I am planning to look into the possibility of bringing Becky home.

I pray for the right decision for Becky and for God's will to be done.

Hi Alan,

Prayer should be focused on the cancer being gone and healed completely.

My prayer is for this and that Becky whatever their prognosis will be healed and restored by God to her family and life.

LORD, and loving heavenly Father,
We know it is your will to always heal and do more than we can ask for.
We pray for complete healing and removal of Beckys cancer and that you will restore her to full health and her family.
To your Glory and in the name of Jesus Christ, your son our Lord. Amen.

Dear Friends,

Thank you for all the extra prayers. Heaven has certainly been bombarded and our prayers have been answered because the remnant of the tumour has not grown and there is no sign of any further cancerous growth. Becky's consultant reiterated that in his professional opinion the tumour will return eventually but for us believers this is a miracle. Praise Jesus!

The team in Newcastle have everything they need now to make a decision and we'll hopefully hear positive news within the next week. Thanks again for all your prayers

Latest update:

Dear Friends

Finally! We have a response from Newcastle that they will accept Becky. Our prayers have been answered, Praise Jesus! Another miracle. Thank you for your prayers and support, without which I'd be helpless. We must pray now for a bed to become available ASAP as I feel that Becky is more than ready for the next stage of her recovery.

Some more wonderful news. This morning Jane, Becky's sister and Lucinda our dear friend were visiting Becky and praying the Hail Mary. Lucinda called me very excited telling me that Becky had mouthed the whole prayer and in fact done it three times. They reported Becky was the most alert they'd seen her without being distressed. Matt the male nurse on Ward 34, witnessed this and said he had never seen Becky so relaxed and alert.

Sometimes I can't quite believe this journey we are all on, I believe with all my heart that the Lord is with us and drawing us closer to Him. We must continue to trust and have faith that good will come from this tragic situation. He loves each one of us more than we could ever know, he's certainly carrying me and strengthening me. On my own I'm helpless but together with our Lord we can get through life's toughest events and hopefully come out stronger and more like Him.

I will of course let you know as soon as I get news of the move, with directions and visiting times.

Thank you again for your support and prayers.

God Bless

Dear Friends,

Some more wonderful news. Fr Pat was with Becky today and told
me that while she was tired this morning, in the afternoon she

Note - Becky still has a tube in her neck which she breaths through, so is unable to make sounds with her vocal chords.

Latest update from Andrew:

Dear Friends,

After just returning home from a blessed half term week away with the children, I received an even greater blessing this evening. When telling Becky all about our week away and how much we missed her being with us, she seemed to be acknowledging what i was saying more than I have ever witnessed. Her facial expressions encapsulated total understanding, so much so I started telling her how much I loved her. Becky, as she often does, started to get distressed and I could see she was trying to respond, so much so she looked like she was going to burst from within. At that point, through the tracheotomy she clearly and audibly said " I love you Andrew! " To hear her voice so clearly was truly amazing!

I started to pray the Hail Mary in tears and Becky audibly prayed it with me, I was a bit in shock and started shouting the nurses to come in to the room to witness what was happening. By the time they arrived Becky had used every bit of energy she had left and was exhausted and in a deep sleep.

I left her this evening full of joy and Spirit filled, praising God.

Becky is on the waiting list to be transferred to Walkergate Park Newcastle but as yet we haven't received a date or even an approximate timescale.

I trust God's timing will be perfect.

This evening has given me fresh impetus to persevere in prayer and praise and I hope it's done the same for you.

Thank you for your continued love and support.

Dear Friends,

Yesterday was a challenging day because Becky was distressed the whole time I was with her. She was trying so hard to communicate and the nurses and I just couldn't get her to settle. I left her last night feeling a bit down.

Today will hopefully be a better day. Becky's wheelchair is planned to be delivered and fitted and I've arranged for Becky's hairdresser to try his best to cut her hair this afternoon.

This morning I was informed by Walkergate Park Newcastle that Becky is next on the list for a female bed and her transfer should happen within the next 6 weeks. Praise The Lord!

I plan to visit Walkergate Park next Monday to meet the team that will be taking over Becky's care.

Thank you for your continued Prayers, love and support.

It could be she heard the nurses say something. Get a female to question her a close family member of friend.
It might help if they can find out what it is about and address the situation for her.
Trust the LORD, and pray on all occasions for her and let him and ask him to direct her steps.

More news from Andrew:

Dear Friends,

More of our prayers have been answered, Thank you!

Yesterday I visited Walkergate Park Neuro Rehabilitation Centre in Newcastle with Becky's sister Jane, to take a look at the facilities and meet the team who will be taking over Becky's care.
The drive there is very straightforward: north on the A19, through the Tyne Tunnel, left at Silverlink Retail Park a few miles further and you're there.
The weather was bright and sunny which helps with first impressions, but once inside it just kept getting better. The whole centre is bright and airy and spotlessly clean and purpose built for specialist rehabilitation. The staff were warm and friendly and the facilities are fantastic. I was very impressed with the whole set up. Sharon, the manager on Ward 4, has over 30 years experience and is looking forward to receiving Becky into her care. She explained how they operate a 2:1 patient to nurse ratio which is excellent. Each private room is 3 times the size of Becky's room in York with ensuite facilities. A program designed specifically for her needs and goals will be put in place and delivered by a specialist team caring for her. So, for example Becky could be bathed everyday if we wished. Because she will be busy Monday - Friday until 16:00, Sharon explained that visiting will have to be after this time or weekends.

The nurses at York have been wonderful and have done everything possible for Becky showing her such love and care and I will be forever grateful. Nevertheless, Becky is on an acute respiratory ward with sometimes 20:1 patient-nurse ratio and their hands are tied to how much time they can spend with her. They were as pleased as I when told the news of her impending transfer.

Walkergate are very aware of my desperation for Becky's move and hope to make it happen this month. Only God knows the level of recovery Becky will make, but I'm certain Walkergate is the most appropriate place to give her the best chance.

Dear friends in Christ, please pray that the move can happen swiftly, Becky remains infection free and that no obstacle will be put in the way. I pray that this is God's will for Becky and that she will bless as many people in Newcastle as she has in York, in Jesus name!

Amen!

In his grip
Andrew.

All things work together for good. God has everything worked out. Don't stress it. Just wait God's time he knows what is best for Becky.
It is in God's time not ours it won't be too late and it won't be too soon. It will be at the right time for Becky.
Thanking God for his care of Becky and others. Just trust him.

Dear Friends,

Just a short note to let you know we are still waiting for a date for Becky's transfer. Newcastle have informed me it won't be before the end of April. It's very frustrating! The discharge of a patient they were expecting to leave by now hasn't happened and it looks like we're going to have to wait several more weeks.

Becky is stable at the moment and infection free but hasn't made any further progress than previously. The team at York are doing everything they can to keep her that way as we all wait for the transfer.

Thank you for your continued prayers, love and support.

LORD and loving heavenly Father,

In your word it is written 3 He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not.

4 Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.

5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.

Some have not caught up with the truth that it states with his stripes we are healed, not will be healed but Christ has already purchased our healing for us. We are to claim not to request because your word shows that it has already been purchase by the blood and suffering of Christ on the cross. Therefore Becky in the name of Jesus receive your healing. Father open the ears and eyes of those praying to see the truth revealed. Let them see that Christ has healed all our diseases by his stripes and it your will all shall be healed. Becky would have come to you and Jesus had she died. She would still be okay.
You treat all the same no difference in your love for anyone. So we pray and thank you for her healing and all others on this thread. Give them the faith required to claim their healings.

To your Glory and in the name of Jesus Christ your son our Lord. Amen.

Some good news from Andrew:

Dear Friends,

Finally! The agonising wait is over and we have the date when Rebecca will leave York and be admitted to Walkergate Park Rehabilitation Centre. On Monday 16th May she will move to Ward 3, there. Alleluia! Praise Jesus!

Thank you for all your prayers, love, support and words of encouragement which have strengthened our family so much. Thanks also, to those who have visited Becky in York. I know with all my heart she loves it when you are with her.

Rebecca is more than ready for this next challenge. She is infection free and in her moments of awareness is as good as I've seen her. Without a doubt, the nurses at York have been amazing. The love they have shown Becky is over and above their call of duty and many tears will be shed when she finally leaves Ward 34 having been there for nearly 9 months. In turn, the affect Becky has had on the staff at York has been truly wonderful. In fact, one of the nurses has started her journey of faith because of Rebecca.

Please pray that this next chapter in Rebecca's recovery will see her progress from strength to strength. Many patients go to Walkergate not being able to move a finger but leave on two feet a year or so later. Walkergate will do everything in their power to help Becky recover and I know that she will be in the best place possible, but only God knows what recovery she can make.

Dear Father in heaven we ask with all our hearts that you continue to bring Becky back to us. We trust that your will is perfect and good will come from this tragic situation, in Jesus name, Amen!

Jesus we Trust in you!

In Christ
Andrew

P.S I will visit Walkergate this week and meet with Dawn the Ward 3 manager, to ask the protocol for visiting and report back to you later this week.

More news from Andrew:

Dear Friends,

I wanted to share with you a telephone call I've just received on this Pentecost Sunday from Becky, (the young nurse on Ward 34) who is planning to say goodbye to our Becky, later this evening. Nurse Becky is the young lady I told you about previously who has started her journey of faith since caring for our Becky.

For ease I'll call Nurse Becky, Becky and our Becky, Rebecca.

Becky called me just as I walked in from church this morning, contemplating if the Holy Spirit is going to transform my life and somewhat doubting that it is actually going to happen.

Yesterday, when Becky was with Rebecca, she noticed for the first time, Rebecca's finger looking relaxed. She asked Rebecca to open and close her hand and couldn't believe it when she responded. She then repeated the request and to her delight had the same response. "That's amazing Rebecca!" she exclaimed. "I've never seen you do that before." When she looked up, Rebecca had a big smile on her face.

Joy flooded my soul and my doubts disappeared when Becky told me this as I know it's an amazing sign of things to come.

"Come Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful and kindle in them the fire of your love" Alleluia!

Let's continue to Trust our heavenly Father only he can transform this for the good.

Jesus, we Trust in you!

In Christ
Andrew

Dear Lord, we pray for Becky's recovery to continue when she is moved to Walkergate tomorrow.

May her recovery continue.

The latest news from Andrew:

Dear Friends,

Today has been a very emotional day for me. It started early this morning on my drive into York hospital, I felt Our Lord's presence with me. The sun was shining through the clouds and heaven seemed so close.

Ward 34 at York was peaceful and quiet and Steph the nurse was preparing Becky for her journey north. Becky was aware what was happening and seemed agitated. The ambulance drivers and staff hoisted Becky onto their stretcher ready to go downstairs where the ambulance was waiting. The nurses lined the corridor kissing Becky as she went passed them, tearful that she was leaving them but pleased for us at the same time, it was truly amazing to see the effect she's had on them. I went back into the room which Becky hasn't left for the past nine months, empty and waiting for the next family to arrive, it was surreal.

I followed behind the ambulance in my car passing through villages watching people getting on with their lives joking and chatting away, unaware that my Angel Becky, my most precious possession, was lying in the Ambulance that passed them by.

On arrival at room number 7 on Ward 3 at Walkergate I was met by a black man with a warm smile. He introduced himself, " My name is Abel, " he said, I'm Becky's nurse today."I'm Andrew Becky's husband." "Both great biblical names" he said. I smiled knowing he was a man of God. Turns out Abel has 5 children, 4 boys and a girl, the same as us. I asked Abel where he was originally from. He pointed upwards and said " The same place as you, God started me off in Nigeria and you in North East England, but we are both from God". I knew instantly Abel and I were going to get on like a house on fire and that Becky would love him too. Abel and I prayed with Becky and we embraced as brothers in Christ. Room 7 at Walkergate was pregnant with the Holy Spirit.

Becky was smiling and so were Abel and I. Becky had started to change things at Walkergate already, Alleluia , Praise Jesus!

What a day!!!

In His grip

Latest news from Andrew:

Dear Friends,

Just a quick message to let you know Becky has settled into Walkergate Park. The whole set up is first class and I feel confident that she's in the right place. Becky has her own individual therapy timetable which is given to me on a Friday for the following week. It includes physiotherapy, speech and language therapy and occupational therapy. The atmosphere is very peaceful and the doctors and nurses are wonderful.

In the initial weeks the team will be assessing Becky closely and then tailoring her care to suit. I'll be meeting with the whole team on a weekly basis for a medical review update. Becky's consultant said he will give me his opinion in a few weeks time as to Becky's potential recovery. We couldn't ask for better care than this.

Thank you for your continued prayers, love and support

Latest update from Andrew:

Dear Friends,

Thank you for your continued prayers love and support.

Yesterday I met up with some of the medical team at Walkergate Park. Helen, Becky's physiotherapist is very experienced and I was most impressed with her. She told me of the plans she has for Becky over the coming weeks and how she's going to put Becky's limbs in plaster casts to try and straighten them out. It's a long process and Helen explained to me how she has to do a little at a time, but hopefully it will make it easier to get Becky in and out of her wheelchair.

The meeting I was dreading was with Becky's consultant Dr Laura Graham. Dr Graham is very experienced and the news she gave me was hard to hear. In her medical opinion, she doesn't think Becky will make any significant improvement as a result of the extensive brain damage that she has suffered but she expressed hope that she will be proved wrong. Dr Graham plans for Becky to have another MRI scan within the next 6 weeks, to see if there has been any change to the tumour. She assured me in the meantime, the team will continue to give Becky the best care possible.

Yesterday, Becky was the most relaxed I've seen her, showing no signs of distress smiling when I prayed with her. She has picked up a chest infection, but the antibiotics seem to have worked quickly and the nurses don't seem too concerned.

I met another delightful female nurse called Chris who is also a Christian working on another ward at Walkergate. She told me how the christian staff meet up to pray and that they had been praying for Becky. When I looked at Becky she was listening to our conversation with the biggest smile on her face.

I have another meeting with the whole team this Thursday.

In the meantime let's continue to praise and Trust God!

Latest update from Andrew:

Dear Friends,

A quick update on Becky. The casting of Becky's legs is now over and the physio's have straightened them to 45 degrees from 90 degrees, which is going to make it much easier to manoeuvre Becky in her wheelchair. Becky is now starting her SMART assessment. This Sensory Modality Assessment and Rehabilitation Technique (SMART) was pioneered at the Royal Hospital to assess the levels of awareness, functional, sensory and communicative abilities of adults in a minimally-conscious state. Its accuracy is so precise it has become a multi-award winning tool and is recognised as the assessment tool of choice.

Over the coming weeks Becky will also have another MRI scan, to check if there has been any change to the tumour.

Becky has shown no further signs of improvement, but continues to be aware of my presence and still understands what's being said to her. She is at her most peaceful when we are praying with her.

Thank you for your continued prayers, love and support.

I'm still clinging to the hope that Our Lord will perform a miracle and continue to Trust that he knows how to bring the most good from a tragic situation.

Jesus we Trust in you!

Another update from Andrew:

Dear Friends,

Becky's MRI Scan didn't happen last Tuesday, but it is planned for tomorrow. Last Thursday was a special day as we celebrated Mass in Becky's room. Our dear friend Fr Pat Keogh was the priest. The highlight for me was when Fr Pat touched The Eucharist on Becky's lips and then gave me the same host, it was a very special moment. Later that day and into the next, friends who were visiting commented on how Becky seemed more peaceful.

Today was another blessed day. Vicente Tagle who is a member of the Manquehue Apostolic movement, a community inspired by the Rule of St Benedict who are helping at Ampleforth College for the next two years, came with me to visit Becky. Vicente and I prayed with Becky and I read scripture to her from 2 Corinthians 4: 7-15. Vicente who is a wonderful musician sang prayer and played guitar. It was glorious!

As soon as we have the results of the scan I will let you know.

Thanks again for your love, prayers and support

Apologies for not updating you with news of Becky - I have been very busy since returning from holiday.

The MRI scan showed evidence that the brain tumour may still be active.

The people in charge of the Walkergate hospital met with Andrew to say that Becky was making no further progress and they could not do any more for her.  So she has been transferred back to York in ward 34 where the staff are doing a wonderful job in looking after her.  Andrew is hoping to bring Becky back home once care arrangements are in place.

I would like to thank God for the wonderful inspiration Becky has brought, and continues to bring into people's lives.  Though she is severely brain damaged, it is a privilege to visit her, knowing she is aware of your presence and responding to prayers with a smile or moving her lips.

So please pray for Becky and her family, and all those who care for her.  May she continue to inspire faith and hope to all who meet her.

Latest update from Andrew:

Dear Friends,

I finally have a date which confirms Becky's discharge from York Hospital and return home. Although later than I had hoped, November 28th is the day everyone involved in Becky's care is now working towards.

There will be a team of 10 people involved in Becky's home care and each one has to be competent and trained to a high standard. Over the next couple of months, the carers will work alongside the medical team on Ward 34 in York and will need to be assessed as competent before Becky can be discharged. In the meantime, there are some modification's to be made at home to accommodate Becky's needs and equipment to be ordered.

At the moment, Becky is settled and the nurses looking after her are angels in disguise. Nevertheless, home now seems the place where with friends, family and a dedicated medical team around her, she will be able to rest comfortably.

We are all very excited for this moment even more so since Becky has shown that home is where she wants to be now too.

Please pray that this all will happen and my Angel Rebecca will have plenty of time with us all here at home.

Thank you for all your prayers, love and support.

Update from Andrew:

Dear Friends,

Everyone involved in Becky's care is still working towards November 28th for her return home. The team that will be caring for Becky are all in place and going through their training, spending time each week with Becky in York hospital.

Becky has remained stable over these last weeks, infection free and I would say possibly in a better state than when she left Newcastle. We have the staff on Ward 34 to thank for keeping Becky as comfortable as possible.

It's going to be nearly 16 months since she was last home, so November 28th will, I'm sure be an emotional day for our family.

In the meantime we continue to pray and Trust in the Lord, that His will to be done.

Thank you for your continued prayers, love and support.

Latest news from Andrew:

Dear Friends,

Yesterday I received the frustrating news that we will not be in receipt of certain critical equipment in time for Becky's homecoming which was scheduled for Monday. it's so disappointing after waiting all this time. Becky's discharge has now been set for 12th December.

I'm sure Becky is aware of this and yesterday she was quite distressed. Overnight she had to be put back on oxygen support and her temperature increased. The critical care team have her on hourly observations and all are working to stabilise and settle her. The good news is that the carers will continue to be with Becky in hospital. In the meantime, everyone involved is working towards Becky's move and if anything the new date may come forward as all other preparations are set and ready to go.

I pray we can get Becky home when we can all be together as a family, in Jesus name.

Dear Friends,

Just a quick update on Becky. She seems more settled and is now back off oxygen support. I have arranged for the carers to be with her in hospital 24/7 which means from now on until she returns home a carer will be with her throughout the night as well as during the day. This will hopefully keep her settled and give her the intensive care she needs.

Give Becky these words on a card to see wherever she is laying.

King James Bible
Behold, I will bring it health and cure, and I will cure them, and will reveal unto them the abundance of peace and truth.

You must lean towards God and his truth and expect and receive. ><>  <><

More from Andrew:

Dear Friends,

Yesterday, the final pieces of equipment arrived at home. We now have everything we need to bring Becky home safely. The discharge from hospital is planned for Monday 12th, the Feast day of Our lady of Guadalupe.

The whole family are very excited to finally get Becky home, having missed her warm, joyful, wonderful presence and can't wait to be able to kiss and cuddle her everyday. Barnabas most looks forward to reading to his Mummy when he gets in from school.

The team at York have done everything they can to keep Becky well and the carers have had two more weeks to get to know her. Everyone involved just can't wait for it to actually happen.

We are going to try and keep visiting times in line with the hospital i.e. 2pm-4pm and 6pm-8pm and as in hospital the team recommend that there aren't too many people with Becky at one time. A separate phone line is in the process of being installed so visitors can call through to speak with the team and let them know what time they plan to arrive. I will let you know the number as soon as I have it from BT.

Becky's homecoming has been such a longtime coming that I can't quite believe it is actually going to happen on Monday. Thank you for your continued prayers, love and support.

Praise Jesus!

Almighty and most merciful Father,

The way ahead for Becky will be a new learning curve.
We ask you to lead them through the provision of the Son our Lord Jesus.
That healing, peace, strength and hope will be present in abundance for all involved.
A new way for many and one which will test faith at times as those who love Becky will share in her journey and
support her. May all go well and may all be a good outcome to your glory and in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Go in Peace Alan, serve the Lord through helping others. Amen. :)

Update from Andrew:

Dear Friends,

It's been a blessed day. Fr Pat came this morning to bless Becky's bed and her room after which we prayed together and felt the peace and beauty of Our Lord with us.

Becky and her carers arrived home just before 3pm. It was very exciting but also unnerving seeing her being lifted from the ambulance and carried into her room. Later, Barney and Bertie sprinted across the garden as soon as they arrived home, so excited to see their mummy.

Unfortunately this evening, Becky has been distressed and unsettled. Please pray she can relax and also pray for the carers in their vocation.

Thank you for your continued prayers, love and support.

An update from Andrew:

Dear Friends,

Happy New Year! May 2017 bring many blessings for you and your families.

Becky has been home nearly a month and is being very well looked after by all the team of carers. 2 carers are with her 24/7 and she has undivided attention from them. We've even managed to have her hair highlighted. It's so much better for us all being able to see her everyday without having to travel and we had a blessed Christmas having her with us at home. Becky is definitely aware she's home and sometimes when asleep has a glow about her and a peace like she is basking in the love of Our Lord. It's not always like that and in her moments of awareness she can become very upset and distressed especially when I talk about the children. It's so painful for me to see her desperately trying to communicate but unable to. Please pray that her ability to communicate will improve.

Fr Pat was with us yesterday and mentioned the possibility of getting Becky to Lourdes in May. I've been so excited today setting the wheels in motion to try and make this a reality. We would go with the Middlesbrough diocese from 26th May -2nd June. It would be wonderful if some of you could join us on this special pilgrimage. I'll find out more over the coming weeks and let you know.

Thank you for your continued prayers, love and support.

From what I have been told, there is something about Lourde that makes sick people feel closer to God and at peace.  It may do Becky some good as long as the travelling is not too arduous;  I hope she is able to communicate whether or not she wants to go!  She may prefer being at home.

It's so good that she was home for Christmas and by all accounts is well looked after.

Will keep praying and please keep us updated, Alan.

But scriptures where she can see them.
Especially this scripture...King James Bible
Behold, I will bring it health and cure, and I will cure them, and will reveal unto them the abundance of peace and truth.

Your look for places when all we need to do is look to God our healer.

Christ never sent anyone to another place but I am sure the trip would be good for Becky.
God has already provided for our healing. Isaiah 53:5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.

With God nothing is impossible... Please trust God and stand on his word. x

Another update and request for prayers:

Dear Friends,

This evening, Becky was taken by ambulance back into York Hospital. The paramedics were called out this morning because Becky's oxygen levels were dangerously low but after giving her some help breathing she initially settled down. Most of the day however she has been uncomfortable and this evening after closely monitoring her oxygen saturation levels the carers made the call to the hospital and the decision was made to have her readmitted.

Please pray they can help Becky and get her back home ASAP.

Sorry to hear about this Andrew. James 5:13-18.
Quote
James 5:13-18King James Version (KJV)

13 Is any among you afflicted? let him pray. Is any merry? let him sing psalms.

14 Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord:

15 And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.

16 Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.

17 Elias was a man subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain: and it rained not on the earth by the space of three years and six months.

18 And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth brought forth her fruit.

May the Lord shine his face unto her and bless her with health and healing.
God watch over Becky and bring her into alignment with your will for her life.

I feel  very sad when I read about Becky, who is quite heroic.
May the Lord please help and heal her, also her family.

Another update:

Dear Friends,

Becky has now been diagnosed with Aspiration Pneumonia, needing oxygen support to help her breathe. She is back on Ward 34 for a 3rd time and her condition remains very serious. The doctors have started her on intravenous antibiotics.

It is an unbearable pain to see my love suffer, but still I feel a great peace that can only be a result of your prayers and grace from God.

Thank you !

In Christ

Andrew,

Read up on miraculous healings. With God nothing is impossible so trust him. Don't let what the doctors tell you be the only thing you believe. Healing is part of Gods plan for us. Jesus healed ALL who came to him. Trust Becky into Gods care and know that he loves her and all who belong with her.

Ask God for complete healing. Find the scriptures first, meditate on them then ask. No need to repeat the asking just remind him that you are waiting on him and let God heal Becky. xx

update from Andrew:

Dear Friends,

Thank you for all your prayers, love and support.

After a week on Ward 34 at York, Becky has returned home. She is breathing unsupported and infection free. The full tracheotomy change has been a great success. Becky's oxygen saturation levels are as high as they've ever been and today she's as comfortable as I've seen her in a long time, peaceful and aware at the same time.

I know Becky loves friends to visit to pray or just to catch up and have a chat. We will be away from 12th-19th February, so if you have the time, we would really appreciate you calling in to see her.

In Christ

Latest news from Andrew:

Dear Friends,

Since Becky has been back at home, she has had no major medical problems and we had started thinking about a pilgrimage to Lourdes. Unfortunately, after many weeks of deliberating, the organisers of the Middlesbrough diocese trip decided this would pose too high a risk for Becky; After they explained all of the scenarios to me, I agreed with their decision, understanding that they had only Becky's welfare at heart. We decided that an alternative plan might be for Father Pat to celebrate Mass for Becky at home in the garden when the pilgrims return. A preliminary date of Sunday 11th June has been set.

With the approach of spring and warmer weather, we are so looking forward to being able to push Becky around the garden, listening to the birds in God's fresh air.

This week, we have Mothers Prayers visiting on Thursday. When I mentioned this to Becky she smiled. I've had more such smiles this week from Becky in her moments of awareness. I told her that she is a prayer warrior for Jesus. I know Becky won't be wasting a single drop of her suffering but offering it for souls to be saved. She is amazing!

Thank you for you prayers, love and support.

In Christ

Good News and I am sure Brownie would be pleased to know how things are progressing.
May I suggest you use the annointing of James 5:14-15.

14 Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord:

15 And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.

I pray the LORD our God will fully restore her in Jesus Name. Amen.

Remembering all like Becky who are getting well and recovering.

Latest news from Andrew:

Dear Friends,

Last night Becky's oxygen saturation levels dropped dangerously low and we had to call for help. I truly felt I was moments away from losing her until the paramedics arrived and gave her oxygen. Becky has been diagnosed with pneumonia and she has started a course of intravenous antibiotics in York hospital. After a meeting with the hospital consultant this morning they have told me that within the next 48 hours they should know if the antibiotics are working or not.

We have been in the same position many times over the last 2 years and to see Becky suffer like this is unbearable for me. She is on the maximum oxygen support but hopefully this will be withdrawn as the antibiotics start to fight the infection.

Please pray that God's will be done and that tomorrow we will know whether Becky is on her way home to us or returning to her Father in heaven.

Thank you for your love, prayers and support.

In Christ

LORD, and  loving heavenly FATHER,
Once again, your child Becky is in need of your love and support whilst she is healing.
We pray that you will heal her completely and she will be restored to full health.
We ask that she might have faith to face these illnesses which come on the road to recovery and that
her family and friends will be encouraged and strengthened, so they do not give up.
We thank you for all you have done and are doing. We ask all these things to your glory, Father and in the Name of Jesus Christ, your son our Lord. Amen.

Our lovely Becky has now gone home.
Lastest post from Andrew:

Dear Friends,

After nearly 2 years of suffering, today my beautiful Becky went to heaven. It's been such a special day. It started with us celebrating with the Eucharist at the foot of Becky's bed with Fr Bede. Then Fr Pat arrived and anointed Becky. The whole morning was very peaceful and very prayerful.

It was late afternoon and when everyone had gone for some fresh air, myself, Henry and Gabriel were left with Becky. The nurses signalled to us that Becky's breathing was slowing and left us alone with Becky. She breathed her last breath with us around her bed, It was a very special moment. Her timing was perfect.

I would like to thank you from the bottom of my heart for being on this journey with our family over these last 2 years, your prayers love and support have kept us going through this time of great suffering.

I will let you know within the next few days when we plan to celebrate Becky's life.

Thank you again for your prayers, love and support.

In Christ
Andrew

Dear Lord, I thank you for the privilege of knowing this lovely woman, and for the wonderful inspiration she gave to so many people.  She was instrumental in strengthening my Christian faith and the faith of her husband Andrew.

May God bless her wonderful family and I pray she will now rest in peace with you for ever.
In Christ our Lord,
Amen

Psalm 116:15 Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints.

Dear Alan,

Though saddened and sharing with you the loss of Becky, I feel that she has the most wonderful support from Family and Friends.
I know it may be of no comfort to you now, but I can see how blessed you feel to have had her these last two years with her family
and preparation to let her go to be with the LORD.  When my own sister died at 13 with a bleed on the brain we were not blessed to
have her come out of her coma. But I feel that now to have been a blessing. For all our bravery the loss of Becky will still be most keenly felt and your words show so much love for her from yourself, her husband Andrew, children and friends.
Thank you for letting us share your journey and theirs. Be reassured of our prayers for her family, friends and yourself over the next few months as you adjust to life without Becky. Be also assured that you will again meet her in the presence of God and Lord Jesus when he returns. My heart goes out to you and her family and my prayers for all remain with you. May you rest assured of her presence with the LORD, now and may you all know Gods comfort and peace at this time. xxx  ><>  <><

Latest update from Andrew:

Dear Friends,

Thank you for all the lovely messages of support. They have touched our family deeply. Please come and celebrate Becky's beautiful life, on Tuesday 25th July at Ampleforth Abbey at 11:30am. The burial will take place at St Benedicts Church in Ampleforth village, followed by a reception across the valley at The Fairfax Arms, Gilling.

Becky wouldn't want us to be sad, but to rejoice in the knowledge that she is in heaven. Over the last couple of days she has let me know this by filling my heart with joy and peace. She's already started work showering us with her blessings and I'm confident this will continue for the rest of our lives.

Thank you again for the continued prayers, love and support.

In Christ
Andrew

Prayer used by Fr Bede Jarrett, O.P.
Written by William Penn (1644 – 1718) founder of Pennsylvania

We seem to give them back to thee, O God, who gavest them first to us.
Yet as thou didst not lose them in giving, so do we not lose them by their return.
Not as the world giveth, givest thou, O Lover of souls.
What thou givest, thou takest not away, for what is thine is ours also if we are thine.
And life is eternal and love is immortal, and death is only a horizon, and a horizon is nothing, save the limit of our sight.
Lift us up, strong Son of God, that we may see further;
cleanse our eyes that we may see more clearly;
draw us closer to thyself that we may know ourselves to be nearer to our loved ones who are with thee.
And while thou dost prepare a place for us, prepare us also for that happy place, that where thou are we may be also for evermore.

A prayer from Father Bede Jarret

Hi Alan,

It hurts doesn't it.   Jesus wept, the shortest verse in the bible. John 11:35 even though our Lord knew that Lazarus was to be raised he still felt the sorrow of their loss. You are not alone, (((Alan))) and it is sad.  Being a believer does not make us any different when it comes to suffering loss. Nor does the fact we know we will see our loved ones again.  I take comfort in knowing the Son of God showed us it is okay to let how we feel be openly displayed. Allow yourself to grieve and be sad. Take care of yourself.

Another message from Andrew:

Dear Friends,

This evening at 8:00pm, our parish St Benedict's in Ampleforth will be holding a Prayer Vigil and Adoration for Becky and Lucinda Hewitt, whose baby is due to be born on Monday. Becky and Lucinda are great friends and will be praying for each other as they each celebrate a birth and a Resurrection. All are welcome.

We've received so many wonderful messages and cards each with lovely memories of my beautiful Becky, thank you. This morning after Mass I received one more. It was from Becky's former deputy Headmaster at Newlands FCJ school. He described Becky in the following way:-

To Becky’s family,
It was with great sadness that I heard of the death of Becky after such a long illness. In 40yrs of teaching there are not many individuals
one remembers at my age, but Becky was one of the most memorable. There is little I remember about her academic achievements, but
her personality and character have remained with me. Her ability to radiate care, concern and friendliness to all, was such a feature of her
impact upon the school. Her enthusiasm and involvement with pupils and staff alike she achieved without compromising her individuality,
she was indeed the perfect or at least the most one could ever come to this.

Our prayers and thoughts are with all off Becky’s family and friends.

Deputy Head Newlands F C J 1974-1991

    based on Psalm 121

I lift my eyes
to the quiet hills
in the press of a busy day;
   as green hills stand
   in a dusty land
so God is my strength and stay.

I lift my eyes
to the quiet hills
to a calm that is mine to share;
   secure and still
   in the Father's will
and kept by the Father's care.

I lift my eyes
to the quiet hills
with a prayer as I turn to sleep;
   by day, by night,
   through the dark and light
my Shepherd will guard his sheep.

I lift my eyes
to the quiet hills
and my heart to the Father's throne;
   in all my ways
    to the end of days
the Lord will preserve his own.

Remembering you and Beckys family. I felt this was laid on my heart and wanted to share. You are all in the Fathers Care. x

Yesterday we attended a truly joyful service at a packed Ampleforth Abbey to celebrate Becky's wonderful life and her journey to Heaven.  Masses in memory of Becky were also celebrated yesterday in the USA, Spain, Ireland and Rome.  Becky touched and inspired the lives of many people during her short life.

We also heard that Becky's close friend, Lucinda, (whose daughter Mariana died aged just 3 a few years ago) has just given birth to a new baby daughter!  Lucinda's husband gave a lovely eulogy for Becky at yesterday's service, and said Becky and Mariana will be rejoicing in Heaven at this wonderful news.

Rest in peace, Becky, and keep us all in your prayers.
