Oh dear, he has been around longer than me :-).  I only saw him a couple of weeks ago in an old episode of the Bill, actually two or three episodes as he was part of a story that spread out a bit as they often did.   That was quite a few years ago and he was looking old then but otherwise just the same.

Had a quick google, seems he was 85, a very reasonable age.  A very competent actor who did very well.  Good for him.   My condolences to his wife and I hope I am right in thinking he has precdeceased her, and their son.  Probably grandchildren too.
Let us profit by what every day and hour teaches us

I totally agree with that!

Sad that he has gone, but time comes to us all.
Are your, or your friends'/relatives', garages, lofts or sheds full of unused DIY gear, sewing/knitting machines or fabric and haberdashery stuff?

His death was mentioned on BBC Radio Four news bulletins. They mentioned his roles in Tenko, he Pink Panther, James Bond films ... but not Last of the Summer Wine.

British television's all-purpose Oriental actor (Chinese, Japanese, never mind, nobody'll know the difference) for decades. By all accounts a nice man with it.
Pain, or damage, don't end the world. Or despair, or fucking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man, and give some back. - Al Swearengen, Deadwood.

But they did at the end of the R4 6 o'clock main news.
