Would "Annie Get Your Gun" count as a western?
Does Magna Carta mean nothing to you? Did she die in vain?

Calamity Jane is included in the article, so yes

Dear Sane,

Why do you find it interesting? And where is any mention of Maureen O'Hara.

Big Jake, McLintock, Rio Grande, The Deadly Companions, The Red Head from Wyoming, Comanche Territory, War Arrow.

Just a few of the many ::)

Of course your link does mention Jane russell  :-* :-* :P :P

Was Son of Pale Face a real Western 8)

I will now read posts very carefully and then using the two God given brains cells that I have reply as if I am talking to a two year old, yes that should suffice as a gentle reminder✝️✝️✝️❤️

Interesting because it's not something I've seen a lot of discussion about in terms of westerns, and that as one person's take on it, it throws up various questions, like your own about Maureen O'Hara. Or indeed are Son of Paleface, Annie Get Your Gun 'real' westerns?

Due to the nature of the films, women's roles have tended to be underwritten, and even when not, mainly ignored. I remember going to see Unforgiven, and while one could feel that it was a valiant attempt at reinvigorating the western, the women's roles, were basically as commodities.
