Carlos Alberto dead
« on: October 25, 2016, 05:14:45 PM »
One of the most vivid memories as a child was at the age of 7 walking down to one of the local cinemas, to watch the official film of the 1970 World Cup. My memory of the time is that it was a time of shades of gray, no colour, certainly we didn't have a colour TV at the time.

I sat entranced in the cinema at the shimmering gold shirts playing on the verdant green with joy and elan. A team of greats who played a version of football so rarefied that it appeared to pulse with the colour I was seeing on screen. And that was distilled in the 4th goal where after a series of party pieces, the ball is passed to the right into apparently empty space for Carlos Alberto to appear and thump the ball into the goal.
