I agree. I'm surprised that Neil Brand did not look at the continental European influences such as Offenbach and Lehar and also (personal view) Puccini (I think that verismo probably influenced Hammerstein). His admiration for Richard Rodgers is (understandably) almost palpable.

Yes, agree, particularly given the overlap that can be shown with Romberg's work for Broadway. I was also surprised at no mention of Wodehouse whose work with Guy Bolton foreshadows a lot of the developments covered in the programme
