I hark back to earlier posts on perception. Is a pessimist, a realist or broken - I hasten to add that I know, and am using, the false dichotomy. What others might see as pessimism is never banal, not because it isn't 'commonplace', rather that each instance is unique. And I would suggest the same for optimism.
