This film, which is due for release at the beginning of next year, is the film no-one wanted to fund. Whilst I can understand why some would be unwilling to fund a film that deals with quite as controversial issue as it does - transgenderism (is that the correct form of the concept?), I'm surprised that it has taken so long to be made. After all, it is set in the years between the wars, and is based (albeit loosely, I believe) on a real-life situation.
It has been criticised by some for using a cisgender actor for the main part, but I wonder how many trans actors there are who would have felt comfortable taking on the role?
Eddie Redmayne's interview with the BBC's Will Gompertz is worth listening to -
