Bike ride to Ivinghoe Beacon.
« on: June 30, 2018, 08:40:41 PM »
Pleasant day's bike ride to Ivinghoe Beacon again. Earlier in the week, I'd had ideas of trying for a century ride - 100 miles or more - today, but it was too hot for heroic distances, so I had a pleasant bimble along Gaddesden Row, across to Little Gaddesden, on to Ivinghoe Beacon where I left the bike at the car park and walked to the summit, then back via Tring Station*, Tring, and Berkhamsted.
*Tring Station is what it says, Tring's railway station, but it is a mile or two outside Tring, has a cluster of houses and a former Coaching Inn next to it, and is separated from Tring by fields and woodland, and is thus, de facto if not de jure, a separate small hamlet.

I came to realise that every time we recognise something human in creatures, we are also recognising something creaturely in ourselves. That is central to the rejection of human supremacism as the pernicious doctrine it is.
