John Bluthal.
« on: November 18, 2018, 09:37:20 AM »
The news broke this morning that John Bluthal, of "Vicar of Dibley" fame has died. Great comedy actor. Anyone remember his outing in the late '60's in "Never mind thequality, feel the width"?
"for, as long as but a hundred of us remain alive, never will we on any conditions be brought under English rule. It is in truth not for glory, nor riches, nor honours that we are fighting, but for freedom - for that alone, which no honest man gives up but with life itself."

He was very good in Dibley. I loved the episode where he came out as gay - rather moving.
I came to realise that every time we recognise something human in creatures, we are also recognising something creaturely in ourselves. That is central to the rejection of human supremacism as the pernicious doctrine it is.
