I came to realise that every time we recognise something human in creatures, we are also recognising something creaturely in ourselves. That is central to the rejection of human supremacism as the pernicious doctrine it is.

Work and Pensions Minister, Mel Stride (?) says he is 'not averse' to new assisted dying vote.

Alicia Kearns MP says she thinks the 'national discourse' has changed since 2015 and the ladt debate and vote. I sort of agree but I don't think it's changed so that a bill would go through. The vote then was 330 to 118, and whike we've had elections galore since I don't think those numbers will have changed anywhere near enough.

I am still in favour of it but over the years I am much more concerned about the correct framing of the safeguards.

This story from the Netherlands is worth a read. In my view, in these circumstances it feels justified, and I think I would like to have this option further down the line.
