Sir Dan Moynihan justifies his annual salary by saying he raises millions. How is that even possible in state education?

Industry sponsored events, hosting seminars at the facility, lettings to local organisations, charity fundraisers... In our Trust we have dozens of people who spend hours of their time - in and out of work - grafting for additional money to top up what's needed to run effectively. We suffer from focussing on schools in less affluent areas, which doubles our struggles because we also tend to have less access to the industry-level decision makers who might be empowered to make a sponsorship commitment, but we do have one major agreement at one of our schools with a Premiership football club.

Someone with the right contact list could go a long way to getting everything from sponsorship deals for new facilities to raffle prizes for the summer fair, all of which helps.

I haven't managed to read the article - I'm not going to pay for access - but whilst I would say that these are ways it can be done, £500k against the current financial pressures in education still seems hefty to me.
