I'm not thinking about any posters on here. At all. In no way. No siree. Absolutely not.

https://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2025/apr/07/the-one-change-that-worked-i-quit-fighting-about-politics-with-my-friends-and-family
I think that we have for a variety of reasons lost some of the art of civil discourse, and note i don't mean by that simply polite discourse, I mean being able to say fairly tough stuff without losing the ability to see that the general aims might be similar. And often it's hardest when you have the magnification of small differences.

I was out on Saturday with a couple of friends, and their partners, I've know the friends for well over 40 years. We have never been exactly aligned politically, and yet that friendship has endured some tough arguments, and being on different end of picket lines and protests. In some way now we are more aligned because of a feeling of a general malaise in politics but the base understanding of out aims are what has kept us as friends. The article does read to me a bit smug, and a bit defeatist at the same time in that it doesn't progress how to have discussion, it just avoids it.

Got into running last summer. At that time I could hardly run 3k. Today I ran my first half marathon, a local one. Managed 1:48:47 in the end. Was aiming for 1:45 but the last few hills sapped my strength. Still not up to the full snickers, but it's on my list.

My sister sent me this, it made me giggle.

Notice posted at a conference:

For anyone who as children and doesn’t know it, there is a day care centre on the 1st floor.

Notice in a farmer’s field:

The farmer allows walkers to cross the field for free, but the bull charges!

In a London department store:

Bargain Basement upstairs …

Outside a second-hand shop:

We exchange anything from bicycles, books, to buttons. Why not bring your wife along and get a better bargain?

Memories are all you'll have of your teeth and your waist if you eat many of them.
I came to realise that every time we recognise something human in creatures, we are also recognising something creaturely in ourselves. That is central to the rejection of human supremacism as the pernicious doctrine it is.

"Phew!" time.
Yesterday, I spilled some cider on my laptop - not much, but some went on the keyboard. This is not considered best practice. I mopped it up as well as i could, and thought I'd got away with it, because it seemed to be behaving itself, but this morning I got a "battery low" warning, even though it was plugged in. I checked, and the little power light wasn't on. An hour or so later, the battery went. Shit! I thought I was facing a couple of weeks computerless, and  maybe having to buy a new one. However, I've just got back from big Tesco and plugged it in, more in hope than expectation, and Hoorah and Huzzah! It's working again!

So dear friends, I love raspberries.

I haven't had any since last year. I picked up a punnet at the weekend and shared it with my beloved.

It turns out I am now allergic to them.

An allergy of a gastrointestinal nature.

I am not impressed by this at all.

Why?

(Perhaps Gonners can explain just how this fits into God's plan for me)  >:(

I like raspberries too, but although I never had a problem with them when I was younger these days they don't like me. My mother also had a problem with raspberries as she aged.

Dear Arun,

Eh! How the frack should I know, just be thankful you are part of THE Great Plan, or, OR, you need to go and find your Authentic self ( top shelf ASDA, self service aisle :o ) or and it is more likely Quantum, apparently there is a lot of it going round, just mention Quantum to your Doctor and remember, shit happens 8)

So, Mrs. O. and I have been on a new food plan - Wildfit - for just coming up on 10 weeks now. It's not been hard, but it's been boring (no sugars, no carbs, no caffeine, no additiives...) relying on seasonal vegetables and meat proteins.

But, 10 weeks in, having started at a slightly, but not massively, overweight 13st 4, I'm down to just around 11 stone. I've not been hungry, I am rapidly becoming sick of spinach, but... if you've got any weight to lose, it's a system I'd highly recommend.

Mrs. O.'s weight-loss hasn't been as significant, but she had less to lose, but her skin problems have cleared up significantly.

I've had a comment on Facebook liked by Paul McGann, the eighth Doctor! It was in Doctor Who fan group. I also once had a post commented on by Francis Wheen.
