Putting Religion in it's Place, Religionists don't like it.

Found this link on the NSS site, which proves the point, it's not always bad news.

I bet if the boot had been on the other foot and the Muslim had been trying to get her to convert to Islam the stupid woman would have not been a happy bunny. >:(

'Christian Concern' are a bunch of narrow-minded wankers. "its place", by the way, not "it's place".
I came to realise that every time we recognise something human in creatures, we are also recognising something creaturely in ourselves. That is central to the rejection of human supremacism as the pernicious doctrine it is.

Grammatical correction quite right.  I saw another one earlier on different thread (your's 'instead of 'yours') but let it pass.
Never heard of 'Christian Concern' but will research them.
Done (briefly).  Ian Sleeper is creepy.  Just my opinion of course.

It is pathetic. A grown woman who could not just say..."I am not interested in your religion, so I would prefer not to discuss it in the work
place and would appreciate you not buying or giving to me books."
It smacks of entrapment by the Muslim woman and would be the same had it been the opposite way around or a satanist trying to share their religion.

It is totally inacceptable to waste the NHS money on stupid complaints. They were two adults and a "No thank you" would have sufficed.
Both should be fired for wasting NHS money over a stupid and trivial thing.

Sass you obviously didn't read the whole article, the silly woman was persistantly pestering people with her religious whatever and wouldn't stop, of course if it had only been one case you would be correct but it wasn't only one patient involved and she obviously didn't know when it was best for her to shut up.

Read it all the way through another time before you make a comment Sass.

Off topic but just to say that autocorrect very often adds helpful apostrophes where they aren't wanted or needed. Thank you, Apple.

Very glad I've never used it then!  Much prefer my own grammatical errors, plenty I daresay with my old cracked screen.

The woman (Wastenay) sounds like a complete crackpot.   Proselytising at work is not on, against all the rules, full stop.   She should have known that.   I came across similar years ago when I was an HR Manager but it was a one off and not so bad, the person didn't do it again.

Had it been the other way around, the result would have been the same.  It's not on, against the rules!

If you and the national SECULAR society see this as just deserts for religionists and a source of joy then SECULARISM can't be as benign as you seem to try and make it.

Just come across Andrew Brown's piece in the Guardian about a food manufacturer airbrushing the Cross from photos of Greek churches on food wrappings.

More secularist lunacy.

It was a crazy thing to do, I agree, but then a lot of what more extreme theists do is equally crazy, if not more so.

As this was driven by a perceived need not to upset some religious groups and therefore damage their potential profits I think it should be more accurately described as "more capitalist lunacy".

I see what you are getting at. They should have used a picture of Conway Hall in London on a Rainy day with a junior official of the NSS standing outside with a fag on eating greek yoghurt. Mmmmmmmm.

Do you have any views on the actual tribunal case?
It makes interesting reading.
Do you think that the woman has a good case for religious discrimination?

Well I bought some of the offending products and didnt notice the lack of crosses. I did notice it purported to be Greek food but was actually produced in Germany. To my mind more offensive than air brushed pictures. I didnt complain about it though. It is after all a company making profit out of selling stuff. Whilst one should have a reasonable expectation of honesty in trading situations I have over the course of my lifetime noticed many companies falling short in this area. Lidl is the last in a long line. At least they havent poisoned us. Yet.

I have read the NSS article which IMHO is light on detail heavy on WF.

One or two phrases used which look suspect. Though concerning the level of coercion to religion involved.
Evangelicalism usually eschews forced conversion (other religions don't) preferring personal repentance and invitation. It smacks more like the non religionists favourite myth of ''having religion forced down your throat.''
I know that as a non religionist it was a pants but convenient argument and euphemism for ''I don't want to even think about religion''

I don't think I would have noticed.
I have to hand it to everybody here that nobody has come to the defence of the airbrushing of religious symbolism.

Well it was a spectacularly dumb thing to do. I personally cannot see the point of changing reality in this way.

What  a shame Vlad, secularism is just a bit to far for you to go, you still don't understand it, the airbrushing of these crosses has nothing to do with secularism, I could explain it to you, but would it be worth it?

Well according to you secularism is about putting religion in it's place according to the National Secular society. Who decides what that place is Ippy, you, me, secularists?
