Get your top off for the ladies!
« on: December 07, 2017, 02:48:54 PM »

OK, it's a stretch to claim it as entertainment, and I presume retch was metaphorical but it's all a bit Diet Coke time.

Not getting into the whole objectification thing; just noting that all the hoo-ha, brouhaha and to-do seems to be coming from others on behalf of the models rather than the models themselves.
Pain, or damage, don't end the world. Or despair, or fucking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man, and give some back. - Al Swearengen, Deadwood.

So if you had seen it reversed, and it was get your top off for the lads, that would have been OK with you?

I was labouring under the idea - a misapprehension perchance - that models of any sex exist pretty much entirely to be looked at. If this is objectification, then the many people the world over who work as models (in whichever field) either don't agree that it is or don't care that it is. The people complaining seem not to be on board with this concept.

Some models, yes. Though not those in the programme last night, according to the article.

Sorry, am I misreading you here, you think it is OK for models to have their gentitals touched without consent?

No. Nothing is acceptable without consent. However, as I read the article it didn't say that the models had had their genitals touched.

OK FTR I have advised many penfriends of mine on many sites, do not worry about getting your kit off when on the beach, nobody cares what you look like, and there are many who look far worse than you do.

The only person who does not listen?

I'm not surprised at the article. I watched that episode of the Apprentice and thought the male models were objectified, for example they were asked if they had a six pack and to show it. One girl measured a man's inside leg and it looked as though she deliberately went up a bit high with the tape measure (shown in the article). They had a giggle about the men's attributes but imagine if the male candidates had done similar with female models?

I felt just a little uneasy, embarrassed that women would be so overt. Had they said amongst themselves, "He looks fit!" or something like that and had a little laugh it would've been OK but it went beyond that. The models didn't seem bothered, maybe it's quite normal behaviour in the modelling world.

The models are paid for looking decorative, so they cannot be shrinking violets any more than can be the women.

Thank you for posting this, it puts the lie on feminist rubbish about only women are objectified.

I think the idea that because you  either are not a shrinking violet or feel you have to not act like one in some way justifies sexual assault, as your post seens to imply is quite scary.

That is rubbish, how did I imply that sexual assault is fine?

Robbie was quite correct in showing feminism for the nonsense that it is.

You seem to imply that as long as people are not 'shrinking violets' then assault is ok. What was your point if not that?

Did you mean to say that Emmeline Pankhurst camaigning for women's suffrage was nonsense?

So the feminists who got the law changed to recognise marital rape were talking nonsense?

Why are you so scared?

It’s naff, it’s dated, and I thought the fake ‘feminism’ of aping the worst of male behaviour died a death with the Chippendales.

I don't think you implied sexual assault is fine at all but neither did I show feminism to be nonsense, it isn't. My view is that men can be objectified as much as women & last night's Apprentice made me feel uneasy because of how the women candidates behaved towards the male models.

It seems that both our posts have been a little misunderstood.

Models are supposed to look good, to be able to wear clothes in a way that shows off the clothes (or jewellery or shoes, whatever), be made up, walk and pose so from that point of view they have to expect to be scrutinised and told to do this or that. Being asked to pull your shirt up and show your six pack seemed OTT combined with the comments the candidates made with sniggers - unprofessional.  Of course they aren't professionals in that field but they were embarrassing.  (They behaved like some blokes behave, which women object to.)

It would appear not. But at least this sort, were only models and not shrinking violets.

I am not scared of feminists, that is a typical feminist reaction, to claim that anybody who opposes them is "afraid".

As far as I am concerned, Feminism belongs in small rooms where those who feel aggrieved can spout their gender hatred with impunity. Feminism is just another version of the Socialist Workers Party.

Scared or ignorant...wonder which? Or is it just hatred?

Yes because equal votes, the stop of marital rape, and such are exactly what gender hatred is.
