I approve of your taste in comedy, if not much else.

Yes so do I.
Loved 'The Young Ones' and 'Whose Line is it Anyway'. Reeves & Mortimer always had me in stitches & I still remember some of their sketches.

Ronnie Barker for me was the best comedy actor with David Jason coming in a close second. The Two Ronnies, Only Fools And Horses, Porridge, and Open All Hours. There were others I liked too, such as The Fast Show and Men Behaving Badly.

Why han't anyone mentioned Dave Allen?

Seconded. Funniest stand up (sit down) man I can think of.

In addition Victoria Wood. Funniest woman stand up I can think of.

My son has spent the rainy part of the Easter hols binge-watching Frasier. I’d remembered how funny it was (and is) but the passing of time has also made me appreciate the warmth of it, even the wisdom in places.

I'd put in a mention for Rikki Fulton as well.

Fawty Towers.
Fawlty Towers was one of the very few things my dad and I shared a taste in. The Tuesday evenings we spent watching it together were a bonding experience for us. There weren't that many (episodes or bonding experiences). I knew he loved me but we had little in common. I now struggle to watch them as they are like 30 minute black holes of meaning, the comedy overwhelmed by the pathos.  It's near 40 years ago we watched the last one, and I can still hear his laugh.

Brilliant! Someone posted her piece about Sir Francis Drake on Facebook: "...the Golden Hinde, which is Tudor for the Arse of Gold...".
