My beard had its 40th birthday this year.   We had a modest celebration, with a few friends, some with beards, some without.
They were the footprints of a gigantic hound!

As soon as I realised my hair was thinning a bit (the swirly bit at the top of the head) I shaved it all off. The only way to do it, in my opinion. Nothing sadder than seeing men cling on to the last strands of hair.

I'm a bit thin at the back but other than that have great hair but I'd go for the combover if it came to it.
For one thing I have neither the time nor the inclination for the bulldog or Rottweiler which seems inevitably to go with a shaved head.

No it doesn't, you're thinking of skinheads but a No1 cut is quite cool and smart now. Look around you & on TV & film and you'll see plenty of good looking well dressed men with bald heads.

My hair is almost non existent at the crown of my head but I have to trim my eyebrows virtually every other week.

But for this disparaging post of yours A O, I was thinking of using my quick growing eyebrows as a comb over to cover my bald spot.

Regards ippy.

My preference would be old jackets with a hint of moss with a hairstyle somewhere between Bruce Willis in Die Hard 2 and Monty Don.

The local diocese want to built a modern vicarage for our daughter, and four other houses to sell to pay for it. They planned to put it on land the church owns next to the graveyard. Unfortunately the land is infiltrated by Japanese knotweed, and planning permission cannot be given until it is cleared and safe from it. My girl's present vicarage was built in the late 19th century, an igloo would be warmer, it costs a fortune to heat, the church has to pay for part of the heating costs, and other expenses. A modern vicarage would be much more cost effective.

Talk about going off topic! ;D

On thinking about it, perhaps my system's not having to supply the necessary to support the hair on the crown of my head has switched to over producing eyebrows; as for knot weed, at my age it's more about having knot weed when I should have done.

;D Or knot having weed maybe. Or a knotted weed....

I can picture you having eyebrows curling up to the ceiling. Very fetching (not), maybe Mrs Ippy will take scissors to them when you're asleep.

Willis looks pretty good with his bald pate; Monty has a decent head of hair and delightfully crumpled jackets.

Is Bruce naturally bald or was it a case of shaving or Dye Hard?

I usually say I've just gone for the Bruce Willis look.😁

YOu & Bruce are in good company. There's also one there with a link to bald men with beards.
Patrick Stewart looks good.

Mmmmmmmmm

Why is it when outside in a crowd no one notices a baldie, you could have gone past quite a few of them and then next thing if you see someone wearing a wig, it's a dig in the ribs to your partner often accompanied by a suppressed indication of amusement.

We used to have a army surplus type shop in our small town, the owner had a trained rat sitting on his head, neither of us could look at much in his shop if he was there, couldn't stop looking at this terrible wig, it drew the eye, couldn't help it, it's making me laugh remembering it, I know that's cruel but I can't help it.

I'd quite like to be bald: it looks distinguished.

There's a very good long running leg pull that can be used on baldies, it doesn't always work but when it does.

Start a conversation with a baldie of course, then go on to talking about Somerset house they no longer keep records there the keep them just over the road in St Katherines House, just behind Australia House, in The Strand, (make sure you've got the baldie interested), then turn the conversation to the various aspects of keeping records where your own family comes from etc, anything centralising on or about the records office, (a bit like reeling a fish in then slackening off and reeling in again make sure you really got your victim on the hook), when you think the victim's really got in with you on the subject, (it's timing), ease them around to inheritance etc, and the final blow, (making sure you can get away, escape fast), is to ask them if they've thought about going to St Katherines seeing if they have any missing heirs?

I've had two successes with this one, both used to be really good friends, but it takes time before they'll ever trust you again.

Is baldness a disease?  No, it was explained by that old saying .... 'Grass doesn't grow on a busy thoroughfare'.  It's the same reason why women don't grow beards.  :-[  :-[
