There's a very good long running leg pull that can be used on baldies, it doesn't always work but when it does.
Start a conversation with a baldie of course, then go on to talking about Somerset house they no longer keep records there the keep them just over the road in St Katherines House, just behind Australia House, in The Strand, (make sure you've got the baldie interested), then turn the conversation to the various aspects of keeping records where your own family comes from etc, anything centralising on or about the records office, (a bit like reeling a fish in then slackening off and reeling in again make sure you really got your victim on the hook), when you think the victim's really got in with you on the subject, (it's timing), ease them around to inheritance etc, and the final blow, (making sure you can get away, escape fast), is to ask them if they've thought about going to St Katherines seeing if they have any missing heirs?
I've had two successes with this one, both used to be really good friends, but it takes time before they'll ever trust you again.
