Clocks

Don't forget to put your clocks back one hour before you go to bed tonight.

Most of ours are time controlled, which saves me the bother of doing so.

If you've got mechanical clocks, stop them for an hour and then re-start them. It's not a good idea to turn the hands backwards, especially if they strike.
I came to realise that every time we recognise something human in creatures, we are also recognising something creaturely in ourselves. That is central to the rejection of human supremacism as the pernicious doctrine it is.

I never turn the hands the hands of mechanical clocks backwards, I always go forwards until the correct time is reached.

Spring forward autumn back.

As with many Americanisms, it is an archaic English usage.

In Shakespeare's day, both were in use. The early American settlers took both with them, but eventually, they dropped "autumn", while we dropped "fall".

I would be interested in a rewrite of Keats with an Ode To Fall

Yes, the normal reminders are overwhelmed by the virus news, and the fact that I keep on thinking today is Sunday.
