And other cities. Barcelona springs to mind, as does Bath. I believe Lisbon has taken some action to reduce airbnb lets.

Seriously? You think a spoonful of sugar will make the medicine of your town becoming empty go down?

Puns aside, I think this isn't good for cities.

Absolutely agree.
It's part of the general tide of taking things away from people, smaller houses and now part time housing where your home is turned into a time share.
Mind you there was a time when many many people had to take in lodgers.... but that just means this is a retrograde step into shite living.

Surely this is people choosing this rather than having their home turned into a timeshar e?

The Disneyfication of Edinburgh started with that truly awfule melding of Lassie with Greyfriars Bobby, with accents which made Dick van Dyke's Cockney seem truly inspirational....
rant over.
"for, as long as but a hundred of us remain alive, never will we on any conditions be brought under English rule. It is in truth not for glory, nor riches, nor honours that we are fighting, but for freedom - for that alone, which no honest man gives up but with life itself."

I'm sure there will be people whom circumstances channel them into this and I wonder how long it will take for "If a happens then b, we will take over the management of your property" clauses to appear.
