When I was a young child I used to check my hands to see if I had any wrinkles, and was relieved to see I hadn't got any. I was under the impression wrinkles were a sign you were on your way out. Nowadays my hands are very wrinkled and have been for a while, down to the number of times they have come into contact with boiling hot substances, rather than anything else. :o My face has remarkably few considering how ancient I am.

Why do you keep going on about how old you are, LR? You are younger than I am and I am only ... err ... 27.

My kids remind me on a daily basis how ancient I am! ;D

Don't you use rubber gloves, LR? I admit I forget to use them sometimes but generally do.

At 58 (59 on April 4th), I've started to feel old. It's weird feeling. I can't do what I used to but am fine at work. Hoping this is just a phase. My husband was 60 in September last year and seems same as ever to me - but I am not the same. People have noticed. Well, that's how it goes I suppose. We're all different. I used to be far more lively than my old man; thank goodness he loves me and tells me all the time that I am fine. Yet I'm so tired and depressed.  Even my 92 year old dad seems in better nick than me.  My lovely parent in laws and uncle (Dad's younger brother) & aunt are now a bit tottery. My dad does all sorts of things for them, which he likes doing.

Looking 4'wd to eldest daughter's wedding.

You are still a youngster at 59, I am sorry you are feeling tired and depressed, maybe you should consult your GP.

It has, I think,  been suggested up thread somewhere that a visit to your GP would really be a good idea; maybe a blood test could show that there is some missing element in your diet which could be easily corrected and restore your energy levels.  . My sons are your age, so that counts as really young!!

I'll just add to the general nag. If you are feeling as if there is a problem, then go and see your doctor. Take care

I'm 58 actually, did i say 59? Not surprising, I make all sorts of mistakes these days. I'll be 59 on 4th April (I said "August' originally, that's the sort of mistake I make these days).

I am looking forward to seeing doctor week after next - not. Still, everyone has encouraged me to do it, I'm so thin and wan looking these days but nobody says anything at work, I'm lively enough there.

Thanks all for caring.

I just got off sofa and went flying, hit right ribs on radiator.  I don't know how it happened as I just don't fall over as a rule. Ribs hurt but feeling them there seems no break. I'm well fell up of myself at the moment. Yes, time to go to doctor. I might get an earlier appt if I ring first thing on Friday or Monday.

Nice big bunch of red roses today from John, with small tin of pretty biscuits. I sent him succulents/cacti. They will last a long time, got them from 'Bunches'. His to me came from 'Waitrose'.

PS: Sorry I'm so gloomy right now. Can't quite get to grips with it.

Only for a few decades, after which it starts todeteriorate, same as us. A bottle of fine wine from 1750 would be rubbish by now.

Yet a bottle of brandy from the same date would be worth several fortunes!

I once had the chance to drink a fortified sweet wine from 1783 but my fellow diners balked at the idea. Both Chateau D'Yquem and Madeiras can last very long times.
