' How do your morals compare?'
« on: November 21, 2019, 08:21:51 AM »
Odd little quiz. I do wonder about whether the questions were answered honestly.

6/10 for me - which I assume means that I agree with the majority 6 times out of 10.

I can't get the quiz to come up. However I did see the bit about people taking a sickie when they weren't ill, that is disgusting and immoral! >:(

7/10 for me - but I found some of the questions difficult to answer because they specified a situation which did not apply to me.

For instance, would I read my partner's social media private material. I haven't got a partner - so it's hypothetical. And I can only once "taking a sickie" because I was going for an interview for a job which would enable me to escape a job in which I was not happy.

Also 7/10 but as HH implies the questions don't fully cover all options.

And it's very black and white in some of them. I also struggle with whether it means 'Do you think this is immoral' as opposed to 'would you do this'. I know that people might do something that they think is immoral, but my suspicion is that at base that's a worry about getting caught, and that they actually do think it's ok for them.

I scored 7/10 - it says I have a rebellious streak, which has cheered me up no end.

And looking at it I am not sure how the question "Do you agree women and men are born to have different roles?" is about morals, I also don't really understand the VR question, surely it depends on what the point of the game is?

I got 4/10.

I thought the VR question was odd too - it's a game, and being able to kill artificial characters in a game isn't really a moral question any more than shooting artificial ducks at a fairground stall is.

The choices for is it ever right to cheat on your partner were bizarre - who on earth says 'Yes, if it's with a celebrity'?

10% of young people apparently.

(8/10 for me)

I answered that it was absolutely fine, but that apparently puts me in a small minority.

But it's a game. It's not real. It's no more immoral than Agatha Christie writing books in which one of the characters murders somebody.

I managed to do the quiz in the end, I thought my score would have been higher.

Somewhat rebellious, somewhat socially aligned. Your values are a mix-and-match of those surveyed.
Your score:
6/10

I agree with the rebellious bit, certainly when I was younger.

That was my take as well - that said I would be more uncomfortable with the idea of torture or rape as mentioned in the reply.

That's an interesting point. The same logic applies but I don't think I could ever rape somebody in a game. If it was an action that was necessary to progress, I think I would stop playing  the game. In fact, if it was even possible to rape somebody in game, it means the game designer deliberately programmed it in, so I would probably not play that game.

And yet, I have no problem blowing my enemies to smithereens in computer games. I am disturbed by my own inconsistency.

I suppose there are times where we are more likely to see killing as justified but not rape. And My reaction to a game with rape would be the same as yours.

Yep, with you on that. Of all the scores people have put up the only one I can honestly say was surprising was LR - I mean 6/10 is borderline being down with the scum like us.  ;)

My guess is she did the quizz at least twice and realised she looked too goody two shoeos so made up her score to give her some street cred 😇

I doubt LR pursues street cred, she rolls her own rebellious way. I can just picture her in the Brando role in The Wild One being asked what she was rebelling against and replying 'What've you got?'.
