PTSD
« on: January 04, 2020, 12:35:59 AM »
I'm interested to know if anyone here has personal experience of PTSD either as a health proffesional or has been affected themselves
This is a genuine enquiry .
Thank you .
Walter .

I hope you've had at least one personal message from a poster about this Walter. They probably wouldn't want to post about their experiences publicly; there is also one who was a counsellor/psychotherapist (mentioned in passing a while back),bound to have some knowledge of PTSD.

Gonads? That's strange - I've never heard "ovaries" being used as an exclamation before.  ::)

"Gonads" means primary sexual organs without reference to sex. It thus includes, but is not confined to, ovaries.
I came to realise that every time we recognise something human in creatures, we are also recognising something creaturely in ourselves. That is central to the rejection of human supremacism as the pernicious doctrine it is.

I haven't heard it for a long time, but I do recall it being in regular usage when I was at school (50 years ago!)

Wot? Ovaries or gonads? Anyway I meant b***ox but 'gonads' looked more rounded  :-X

StevenhOliphant was right but I was using the vulgar slang meaning. Well I would, wouldn't I?

I don't personally know of anyone with PTSD, but the jokey comments in response to the OP are not a good idea, imo.

PTSD is a serious condition and is not the stuff of jokes. People looking in on this forum who have the condition could be upset by them.

If you read the thread properly you will see that not one poster has made even one joke about PTSD.

Also not one person on this thread has used religion to abuse anyone.

'snesibilities' is just a transposition of letters which often happens when typing quickly, you know what was meant. If it was an official document or letter it would be checked before going out. I've never used a spell checker. I don't think you do but can always understand what you are writing even if there is the odd spelling mistake which I wouldn't dream of mentioning.

Getting back to the subject of PTSD, many people who have been in the forces suffer from it due to the traumatic experiences they have. One of our grandsons, who is 14 next month, has joined the Air cadets. He is hoping to be an RAF pilot one day. His parents hope he changes his mind, but of course it has to be his decision.

Fair point. I've removed my off-topic posts; you may want to remove yours.

I have done so.

I hope Walter's OK at the moment. He doesn't have to post here all the time, nobody does, but he was active up until two day ago.

That puts Walter's two days absence in proportion.

Yes I know but it just seemed as though he was here one day and then gone. I expect he'll be back soon and if he is in hospital, I hope he isn't too uncomfortable.
