Are we in control of our decisions?
« on: January 05, 2020, 12:32:53 PM »
A humorous but I would suggest a very effective look at just how irrational human beings can be when it comes to decision making. Well worth a look:

I can see this rapidly turning into yet another discussion of free-will. Of course we have (limited) free-will. I've now said all I'm going to say on this thread.
I came to realise that every time we recognise something human in creatures, we are also recognising something creaturely in ourselves. That is central to the rejection of human supremacism as the pernicious doctrine it is.

Dan Ariely's video has nothing to do with the free will debate, and a great deal to do with how we can make irrational decisions based upon how choices are put before us. I can only think that you haven't bothered to watch all the video to come to this conclusion. However that's up to you.(shrugs shoulders).

No point in commenting if you haven't watched it, silly boy!

I haven't been able to access the video.

If you are using a proxy site you might have problems. You should be able to see it by copying the link and using your normal  browser

My browser won't permit me to do so.

My virus protection is quite strict, which is probably just as well.

I can't use smileys on my new proxy server, which is a nuisance.
