While i was away from the board and in lockdown I began experience painful burning sensations when passing water , then there was a pinky rusty colour in my pee (blood) . I ignored it for about a month thinking doctors are too busy at the moment .

Then I got a text message from NHS saying not to ignore problems. So i phoned my GP . I was in the surgery later that day and sent to hospital for tests and in the meantime started a month long course of anti biotics .

Results were better than expected , turns out i have an enlarged/inflamed prostate , next step is a camera into the bladder, date yet to be arranged

My point is chaps if you've got a problem in the gentleman's area , don't delay , get it sorted

Fully echo this, a couple of years ago I noted some symptoms indicative of possible prostate issues - went to Drs, had tests that indicated needed to be looked at. Had MRI that indicated that it wasn't obviously a problem, but continued to be monitored on a yearly basis. This led to a further MRI earlier this year, which was more ambiguous so had a biopsy done under general anaesthetic earlier this year which turned out fine. Was due to have further check up during the prime Covid period but for obvious reasons that got moved to later this year.

Throughout the NHS has been exemplary

You were wise to get it checked out Walter. My husband first had a PSA test in 2004, which showed an exceptionally high PSA level, as has every PSA test since then. A scan showed black spots on the prostate, but it wasn't larger than expected. The jury is still out as to whether he has prostate cancer. My father died of prostate cancer two years after diagnosis. His doctor was very remiss in having ignored the signs, if he had been tested sooner he might have recovered.

My brother-in-law and two friends of ours have made excellent recoveries after having their prostates removed.

yep , I had all those symptoms , still got most of em ! but cancer was 90% ruled out
