There were too many alternatives for the letters you'd got, and a non-obvious answer, so 5/6 is good going. In my Facebook wordle group, most people got 6/6 or failed.

After my 2nd go, I was pretty sure the word would be of the second and fifth letters being what they were. I used the 3rd and 4th goes to get rid of as many letters as possible i.e. not putting in a double letter. That meant by the 5th go I only knew of two words that could fit, and one was an obscure golfing term that I only know because of reading P G Wodehouse so didn't think the New York Times would have gone with that one.


ETA getting 4 different letters wrong in the 2nd was a big help
