Climate change is real, Brexit was a disaster, Donald Trump was a disastrous President, Boris Johnson is a disastrous Prime Minister, Ayn Rand was a humourless psychopath who didn't know the first thing about philosophy despite her pretensions, the earth is (roughly) spherical, Neo-Darwinian evolution is true and 9/11 was not a false-flag operation.

Social media sites are what people make them. If plenty of liberal-minded people join Parler, its general atmosphere will become more liberal.

in order to do that you expose yourself to stuff that may push you away from a liberal position though. Seeing the 'worst' of the other side may make it harder for you to engage with those who you might find common ground with

I've certainly had a gut-full of conspiracy theorists over the last few years. I was particularly disgusted by the anti-vaccination programme Roses mentioned. However, since the crowds of nutjobs in these areas seem to be growing all the time, maybe I might look in to put in my pennyworth.

Who knows: "There is much joy over one sinner that repenteth".

Of course, the reverse may happen. Wait for it: Underpants becomes a Covid-denier, a climate change denier, a Trump apologist, a  - stop me before it's too late!
