I can't imagine not having access to texting, albeit my texting skills are poor and my speed is ponderous at best: that I insist on spelling and punctuating 'properly' probably slows me down further.

I look on with amazement as my 15 year old granddaughter texts at breakneck speed, and also is capable of using her thumbs to text.

I think you'll find it's a bit older than that.
I came to realise that every time we recognise something human in creatures, we are also recognising something creaturely in ourselves. That is central to the rejection of human supremacism as the pernicious doctrine it is.
