Kids' parodies of Christmas songs and carols
« on: December 22, 2024, 02:59:41 PM »
We three kings of orient are,
One in a taxi, one in a car,
One on a bicycle, sucking an icicle,
Following Ringo Starr.

Jingle bells, Batman smells,
Robin flew away,
The Batmobile lost a wheel
On the motorway.

Any more?
I came to realise that every time we recognise something human in creatures, we are also recognising something creaturely in ourselves. That is central to the rejection of human supremacism as the pernicious doctrine it is.

I vaguely remember a wartime one:

While shepherds washed their socks at night
All seated round a tub
A bar of Sunlight Soap came down
And they began to scrub.

While shepherds watched the box at night
All watching ITV
The Angel of the lord came down
And switched to BBC.

All seated round the tub
The Angel of the Lord came down
And taught them how to scrub.
"At the going down of the sun and in the morning we will remember them."

No, some words are different.
There are probably as mmany different versions as there are primary schools.
