Ginger vs Jesus
« on: March 20, 2025, 05:09:07 PM »
(For background) I had a loooonng, long meeting earlier today and after that, I realised the advice I had was 'Learn how to shut your trap. Until you got a good answer back.' Then I realised what the 'answer back' could have been.
So for (more) background, the advice is from The Pendine Incident, one (of many) Ginger's songs (available on Band Camp or Spotify,  but Band Camp is a much more ethical app).
Gonners is determined   to only give one bit of advice from Jesus (because he's a Jesusist?)

So, whose advice is better? Jesus's one or all of Ginger's (/ some old bloke near death). The full advice is
1 -  Put your faith in the one who tries.
2 - Don't  gossip and don't  tell lies.
3 - When in doubt, buy the larger size.
(Narrative intermission)
4 - Never trust a judgemental man
5 - Listen to those you are younger than
6 - Be good just because you can
(Narrative  bit)
7 - Make up after every fight.
8 - Alway kiss your girl* good night
9 - Don't buy underwear too tight
(Int)
10- Shower even if there ain't no stink
11 - Stop caring what people think
12 - Always buy the first round of drinks
(...)
13 - Learn how to shut your trap, Till you've got a good answer back
14 - Admire in others what you lack
15 - When I doubt do something kind
16 - Be prepared to change your mind
17 - Always leave the past behind

So for me the tenet no 13 has (almost) allowed me to use 13 & 17. together.
* - I can't change the word from 'girl' to ''significant other'.
(Again not sure if everyone would know, but today's  meeting was like a loud mouth pub bore...)

Dear Squeak, ... is he talking about a soft drink, or ginger headed people,  (?)
/If/ anything Ginger bought whisky, (to buy the story). I can remember drinking a few drams (w/ apologs to the scots/ look away if you must ) of whisky with ginger (probably  ginger wine?).
I think that may be my advice, not in the advice list though.

Gonners,

(Don't  worry too much. I'm not paranoid, it's everyone who's  against me.)

Back to The Advice, does Jesus let you buy underwear that's too tight?

Dear Squeakyclean, :o

The subject of tight underwear is not mentioned in the Gospels, could be wrong but with my sense of humour I think I would have noticed ;)

I think I am eventually getting where you are coming from 🎵Its been a long time coming🎶 one of my favourite songs.

No 2 on your list, old Socrates had a few words to say regarding gossip with his Three filter test.

Keep up the good work you slightly weird man ;D

I'm sure tight underwear is mentioned in The Book of Mormon.

1 -  Put your faith in the one who tries. God loves a trier...
2 - Don't  gossip and don't  tell lies. How do you tell the difference. Gossip always adds lies.
3 - When in doubt, buy the larger size. Is that good advise when buying clothers or  bags of sweets? sheer greed?
(Narrative intermission)
4 - Never trust a judgemental man  what if his judgement is sound. Will he judge the risen dead
5 - Listen to those you are younger than who can we listen too?  Listen to the wiser persons.
6 - Be good just because you can no one should have to tell you the obvious
(Narrative  bit)
7 - Make up after every fight. [that was difficult because Hitler killed himself.....but we believe it relates to couples.}
8 - Alway kiss your girl* good night [ unless she is full of a COLD just kiss her head]
9 - Don't buy underwear too tight [ that would give you bulges in the wrong places and make sitting uncomfortable]  Your taking advice from someone whose 9th priority is this :o
(Int)
10- Shower even if there ain't no stink  shower necessary not a choice unless you only have bath. then bath.
11 - Stop caring what people think   Unless it is the doctor then always obey what he tells you.
12 - Always buy the first round of drinks Unless someone already offered,
(...)
13 - Learn how to shut your trap, Till you've got a good answer back hey what are we catching in the trap?
14 - Admire in others what you lack well that is easier  done than said...
15 - When I doubt do something kind Who made these up. When in doubt do nothing just let others shine and show the way.
16 - Be prepared to change your mind  Self doubt is never the way forward, be strong and share your thoughts. always let others praise you and never yourself.
17 - Always leave the past behind  which is very difficult if attached to your mac. Just don't look back at all.

So for me the tenet no 13 has (almost) allowed me to use 13 & 17. together.
* - I can't change the word from 'girl' to ''significant other'.
(Again not sure if everyone would know, but today's  meeting was like a loud mouth pub bore...)
