If they're going to use "fuck[ing]" in a piece, I wish they'd spell it properly: we all know what the word is, and I don't think anyone in this day and age is likely to have a fit of the vapours from seeing it, so the asterisk is unnecessary.

Yeah, I'd agree. I would have changed it in the post title except as it's the title of the piece that felt odd. And it's not as if the writer was using the asterisk.
