I wonder if, after the event (or non-event), the BBC invited him to an interview at Media City in Salford, and he drove to the village of Salford in Beds, or the other one in Oxon.

That sounds likely, he's an Australian so may not be all that familiar with some places in England. He should have had it explained to him properly beforehand.

Don't know about that, but he also missed a tournament in Latvia because his flight was cancelled.
