Covid-19 be blowed: we're allowed out for exercise and fresh air, and I'm glad to say that there were plenty of walkers, runners and cyclists out yesterday, when I went for a 14-mile ride.

The sun is shining and the sky is blue. I intend to go for a four mile walk in an hour or so.
I thought your photos were great, Steve.

ALL daily exercise has to be close to home. The police are now stopping people who are out and about to check on where they are going. You can be fined if you don't tick the correct lock down procedures.

This morning, I drove to a supermarket four miles away and didn't get stopped at all. In fact, I didn't see any police.
ETA: if you're on a bike, I see no reason not to cycle as far as you like as long as you don't interact with anybody else.

Quite. I think LR, like the police, especially in Derbyshire, is making it up as she goes.

No I am not, it was on the news at lunchtime. Around here the police are questioning people about their movements if they are out and about.

I think they are being overzealous. I can’t see any difference between cycling a 14 mile route and cycling a 1 mile route 14 times.

I think it is more than reasonable to expect people not to go too far from their homes at present.

how far is too far in your opinion and why does it matter if you don’t interact with anybody?

The Government expects people to stay in their local area, so that means only a short distance from one's home. I suspect a long bike ride would be frowned upon and could incur a fine.

what if he has to interact with paramedics when he comes off his bike , fractures his head and breaks an arm and ends up in A&E?

Can you answer the questions please.

What difference does it make if it happens at the end of his street or seven miles away?

Why? Do you get more infectious the further you are from home?

It doesn't make any difference

I can see good reasons to discourage going too far afield. If you are allowed to drive somewhere for your daily exercise, everybody will flock to the local beauty spots. However, this reasoning clearly doesn't apply to somebody cycling from home alone for 14 miles.
Rules are instituted for reasons, but people seem to get tunnel vision and focus on the rules themselves rather than the reasons and that winds me up sometimes.
