I thought we were talking about the creator of Professor Branestawm (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Norman_Hunter_(author)) when I saw the thread title: seemed almost certain to be true, but not since recently, as I heard him give a (hilarious) public talk in about 1971, and he was an old man then.
