Yes - and always had time for a yarn and a laugh.
He used to have regular coaching sessions at the indoor bowling centre in my town, and spent a lot of time with newbies and the local blind bowling club.
The latter interested him as he was instrumental in Scotland - yes, Scotland - winning several world championships.
