I haven't read the story, but just from the URL, I'm half thinking what a great idea for a new cheap Royal yacht.

This particular article certainly is an April Fool story - since it contains a quote from that well known royal biographer "Lila Proof", and also we learn that "Conservative MP and former submariner Shiv R M’Timbers" is a supporter of the idea.

The Guardian article is a spoof, but the idea isn't an April Fool joke. People are really suggesting that confiscated oligarch yachts should be commissioned as a Royal yacht.
