Title: RIP Hexham tree.
Post by: Steve H on September 28, 2023, 12:34:26 PM
Quote
Northumberland National Park Authority said it "had reason to believe" the "iconic North East landmark" had been "deliberately felled".
Well, duh! It's obviously been chainsawed.
Very sad.

They should put up a sign saying "More open than usual", as did the owner of a bombed-out shop during the blitz.

The question of what to do with the little scrote arises, if he's convicted. Chainsaws and intimate appendages spring to mind, but seriously, a few hundred hours of "Community payback", planting trees and general environmental work, might be a good idea. At 16, he's probably not an irretrievable ne'er-do-well.

'So that's two people arrested for Sycamore Gap... just one more and they'll have the tree fellers they're after'

Should I be worried that as I read, I heard it in my head in the voice of one Agnes Brown.

A bit misguided, perhaps, but hardly an eejit. He did what I hope the NT will eventually do officially. I'm not keen on the coppicing idea - it won't look right.

"It's a load of politics and legal jargon" are the words of an eejit.

A bit of an eejit to think he could just go and plant a tree somewhere without permission from the land owners and to then say it is all a load of politics and legal jargon.

Well, ok, a bit of an eejit - but a nice one.

Well meaning for sure, but still a bit of an eejit to think he can do that.
