Title: Reform UK warns candidates not to use social media while drunk....
Post by: Nearly Sane on April 08, 2024, 04:57:25 PM
... after racist posts

Because drink is well known for completely changing your views, and all of the candidates that they were forced to bin were really not racist or homophobic in any way whatsoever.

Looking at this on Talk TV's report on it on YouTube and the comments are 90% in favour of the candidates that were got rid of. Tice suggests that 1 or 2 % of their members might be morons....

As a general rule, it's probably not a good idea to post stuff when pissed, but I agree with your point: being pissed didn't make the into racists and homophobes. It was already there.

I take the point, but it's not just that.

You have to be pretty careful, on social media, not to post things that can be misconstrued if your career depends on it. And there are certain things, that, whilst true, are not sensible to post. I haven't read any of the posts that caused the Reform candidates to get fired, but it is possible that this might have happened.

Not sure how you might be able to answer it given your position but what might an example of a true thing t would not be sensible to post be?

"sex is binary" is the obvious one that comes to mind.

Surely that depends on where, to whom, and why you might say that? And whether or not you are a coward.
