I find this an odd story. I wouldn't assume any memoir is exactly accurate, and would assume i'm being told a subjective biased set of events. There doesn't seem any question that the basic facts are correct, and the diagnosis seems, even if incorrect to have been made. It seems a strange thing for The Observer to have dedicated time to.

Does The Observer consider that the verity of romanticised autobiographical memoirs be tested in courts of law?
