Very tragic. :o I hope the driver is caught and they receive the jail time they deserve. >:(

There was probably no intent but that still makes it manslaughter. In the UK, you'd probably get more than 144 days for causing the death of a pedestrian. Then you have to factor in the fact that it was a hit and run.
