My new favourite breakfast, which I invented recently.
Ingredients:
Three slices of bread (I prefer wholemeal - tastier and healthier - but each to their own)
One large egg (or baked beans, or other suitable ingredient)
Butter or marg.
Seasoning to taste
Method:
Preheat air-fryer. Make a circular hole in one slice of bread with the rim of a mug or cup, or the plastic top of a jar of instant coffee, which is better, because the rim is narrower and therefore sharper. Even better would be a biscuit cutter, if you have one. Put the circle of bread to one side. butter all three slices, buttering the rim of the piece with the hole. put the holey slice butter side down on one of the other slices and press them together. Butter the other side of the holey slice, and break the egg into the hole. Add seasoning if you want to. Put the third slice of bread on top, butter side down. Butter the circle of bread removed from the middle slice and put it on top, butter side down, as decoration. Press the whole thing together, and transfer to the air fryer. Air-fry for 15 minutes at 200C. (No doubt you could also do it in a conventional oven.) Eat carefully, or you'll get egg yolk everywhere.
You can substitute baked beans or other ingredients for the egg, but baked bean ones tend not to hold together as well as egg ones, presumably because the egg soaks into the bread to some extent, and then sets.
