I suppose I could have posted this in The Goon Squad thread i put up earlier, and which I will link to from here . I was discussing the issues of this at the weekend. The emergence of choking in the mainstream seems incredibly shocking to me.

It feels too late, and i wonder how the legislation will be phrased to deal with user generated AI.

"IT feels too late" is a sentiment I express about everything to do with the internet.

AI - it already feels too late.

Musk's malevolence - it is too late.

The degradation of debate - it is too late.

But to return to your point - maybe it is, but if the government doesn't try, we'll never know.

Oh I don't disagree.but look how ling this has taken to get to this stage. The issue is either dealt with with sufficient urgency or comprehensiveness. The Online Safety Act was an attempt but out of date before it was implemented. I will just note that Reform want to repeal that iirc.
