Speaking as somebody whose favourite version of cricket is the test match and who watched his national team collapse with depressing regularity this summer because none of them knew how to bat in a match without limited overs, I find it somewhat of a distraction. How is it better, for example, than 20/20?
And in its format being different as regards 'overs' would seem even more removed from test cricket.
