I'm wondering if Steve was using the phrase more in the sense of the ban being a blunt tool that wouldn't address the problem, rather than the problem itself being insignificant.


I'm not sure, as I hinted at in the OP, how the ban will work given the description, and it seems so easy to get round, that it's not sledgehammer more an imaginary one.


I think where the idea has merit is that it's as simple as it is means that it can be introduced quickly, and it's planned for review in a year. As I have often maundered on about, legislation is incredibly slow - and even this will be a year from passing to applying - whereas tech is rapid.

Bit of a side issuer, but Musk didn't buy Twitter for any grand reasons. He was attempting to do a pump and dump but got caught out by signing a legally binding contract. He didn't want Twitter.

Also, Twitter is pretty much an irrelevance amongst under 16s. TikTok and Instagram are the platforms of choice.

This is true, but he did use it to supercharge Trumps ego during the election and push that agenda to everyone. It works on some adults it will work for some children.
