What would 'listening' mean to you? Labour's policy on immigration has moved substantially.
Dear Sane, Good Morning,
Me, personally, your question has the word "you" in it but the thing is I am not alone in my anger, my outrage, my how dare you!
The asylum seekers have achieved what they set out to do, they have reached our shores they are safe, yes they must have endured extreme hardship to achieve this but they are now safe, they now have a roof over their heads, food, clothes, all the basics, if I was an asylum seeker I would be eternally grateful.
Now my outrage, I don't want a thank you but we have rules very old rules, I live by them so do you, if the asylum seeker wants any extras, money in their pockets, medical aid you need to learn the first rule, English, you now have the basics FFS meet us halfway and learn to communicate.
Forget the old country, you are in a new country and we have rules, our rules that we live by, learn them and no I don't want to learn your rules we have our own rules learn them.
Every single day I am at work I see this, in fact it is written in to the Nurses handover, is there a communication barrier, and every single day there is, it breaks my heart to watch a Doctor or Nurse trying to use google translator to communicate to the Mum and Dad whilst the Clerkess tries to arrange for a translator to arrive at the unit and those people cost big money, but the money is a secondary consideration, the child the baby is the first the only consideration.
So you asked, I have explained, can you put yourself in the Nurses or Doctors situation, I can't!
Who should the politicians listen to, we could start with Doctors and Nurses, ordinary folk who would never have given the flag wavers the time of day but are now 100% behind them.
Gonnagle.
