Back in the early 70s,the facetious slang term for "steal" was "liberate". By the mid-80s, it was "privatise". Says a lot about changing attitudes.

"During his election as Labour leader, Keir Starmer vowed to support "common ownership of rail, mail, energy and water" but has since backtracked, ruling out nationalisation of the big six energy companies, water or mail."

A consistent problem of privatisation is the aquisition of British companies by overseas companies and financial interests. The companies may operate on a day-to-day basis in the UK, but strategy is determined elsewhere.

Does where strategy is determined necessarily effect it in a way that it is worse if it is determined outside a country?
