First time I've bought coffee in a couple of months. Wow is it expensive
Climate change, old chap. Apparently the rise in temperature in Brazil and in Indonesia, Malaysia etc is just too much for the coffee bush/tree whatever to perform well. Colombia has fared rather better (which is nice, because that's the best coffee for me at least), but that hasn't helped the worldwide harvest much. Odd thing I find is that people like to faff around adulterating their coffee with all kinds of crap which certainly hikes the price even more, and can irritate the hell out of people (like me) who just want a simple cup of coffee. Last time I was in Switzerland (couple of decades ago) I found they had largely resisted this ridiculous trend: "Cream on top, extra foam, chocolate sprinkles and marshmallows?" Give me a break. I waited 15 minutes this morning (more fool me) while the people in front of me in the queue ponced about with this ridiculous ritual of recipes for diabetes. And the waitress spilled one cup and had to start all over again.
